My hotel receptionist recommended a restaurant for pasta. I walked to La Locanda di Eugenio, a charming place only three short blocks down the road.
The restaurant is unpretentious and has 10 tables outside. There are 11 tables for two inside. The outside can be a little noisy in the early evening with cars, taxis and buses zooming by.
The menu is varied and prices relatively inexpensive for Rome. My brother and I wanted to try a Spritz before ordering. I asked the first waiter, who had enough English to respond to questions, if the chef could possibly make a pasta with anchovies, which I love. He said the chef could make it with spaghetti especially for us.
Sliced bread was brought in a basket, and although it was fresh, it was disappointingly room temperature. I would have given the restaurant another star if the bread were warm and presented with butter or olive oil. Additionally, we had two different waitresses plus the owner, four in total. Still, the service could have been more attentive. No salt or pepper grinder was offered. Expect to use paper napkins, not cotton or linen, although the paper ones we had were substantial.
We ordered two glasses of house white wine to go with the anchovy spaghetti, and the wine was good.
This restaurant isn’t bad, and I do recommend it, but some improvements in service could be made. I think the quantity of pasta could be 1/3 more. When the bill was presented, I noticed a 2 € cover charge was...
Read moreMy friends and I (10 people) went to eat at this restaurant in Prati near our apartments. We are all study abroad students from the US. The food was mediocre and the waitress kept suggestion appetizers and expensive menu items which we all declined. We were brought bread in little baskets which we thought was free as appetizers in the US usually are. We had to pay 12 euros for bread that we did not want and never asked for. When the bill arrived, the staff was not accommodating at all, and would not help us split our meals. We were then forced to split the cost of our food amongst ourselves, with which 10 people was very confusing. The waitress was rude and unhelpful at our confusion of the bill and was not willing to accommodate to us. If you are American I would avoid this restaurant...
Read moreThis place is a gem near the Vatican at the Borgo neighborhood and after an unplanned visit after a tour at the Vatican Museums during our vacation, we liked it so much that we returned for the Christmas dinner. The food is excellent and for us with a family of 4 (with two teenagers), they had an option to everyone. Local Roman dishes, excellent antipasti and their panna cotta is delicious. Tania helped us both times and she was the most attentive and professional server you could ask for, she is a local and gave us suggestion to eat, furthermore, she prepares the best Aperol Spritz that we had in all Rome!! Grazie mille for taking care so well of our family. We will return to your lovely ristorante....
