Please note that if you want to enjoy a view of the evening Vatican, you need to go to the bar, not the restaurant. We had a reservation and went up to the top floor of the building, only to be sent down to the floor below because dinner is only served there. The restaurant is completely glass-enclosed, so there is virtually no view in the evening. The atmosphere is completely different from what you might expect. The dining room was empty, soft music was playing, and we were greeted by the waitstaff. I tried to be polite and make small talk, but unfortunately, the staff did not seem to feel on equal footing with the guests. They brought us water, which was later added to the bill🫠 The restaurant positions itself as an upscale, high-class establishment but charges for water that is typically complimentary in most restaurants while you are choosing your food. At the very least, they should have informed us of this beforehand, but we found the decision strange.
Aside from the water, we were served complimentary snacks, which were, finally, free of charge)) We ordered pasta with rabbit and truffle, and they recommended a wine to go with it. The pasta was the most delicious we’ve ever had; the cuisine was truly excellent. The appetizers were also very tasty, and the wine was decent. However, the service during the meal and the constant remarks from the waiter like “Don’t be nervous, we understand this is your first time at such an exquisite place” were shocking. Even if that were the case, I wouldn’t want to be at a high-end restaurant where the staff communicates like that.
On the other hand, they were patient when we took photos and asked to charge a phone. It was my friend’s birthday, and since we couldn’t eat a full dessert, they brought us a small complimentary treat. It was very good, and my friend was pleased.
Afterwards, we went up to the bar to finally enjoy a drink with a beautiful view, and everything was perfect there. We were given a table with a view, a heater was turned on, a bottle of wine and snacks were brought to us, and the service was excellent. Just as we were about to leave, the staff brought out tiramisu with a candle for my friend, which was a very nice touch. It made us want to leave a tip.
Overall, the food was amazing, but the waitstaff’s attitude was strange, in the restaurant, of course. I’d be more likely to return to the bar but not...
Read moreTerrazza Les Etoiles- that was a catastrophe, On 3 February 2024 I reserved for 9 persons (8 adults and 1 child) for anniversary diner at Terrazza Les Etoiles rooftop restaurent of the Atlante Hotel (Via dei Bastioni 1, Roma, Lazio, Italy, 00193). On its website Terrazza Les Etoiles asked bank guarantee which I did and got the reservation. 2 days before the D-day (evening of 16/02/2024) I have got a call that "You know you are more than 7 persons and we can only give you Menu Dégustation/Tasting Menu at 110 EUR per person". When we reserved, there was not any explicit mention about group reservation and number of persons and they have no general conditions (absence of GC is illicit in the EU) on the site to underline it. Just 48 hours before D-day, it has the only objective-to trap and oblige customers (potential victims) to accept their "offer". However, among 9 persons there were persons not tolerating some type of sea food and fish and alternatives were "banned" by chief. However, in the restaurent with our persistance and the kindness of a French speaking waiter, we could "convince" them to choose "à la carte". To be objective we were offered some amuse-bouches by chief. They advised us to take a dish to share (beef), but afterwards came and told that they do not have meat to honour the original dish ordered proposed and they can complete with pig dish.... I remind that we had an anniversary but it was spoiled as from start... Wine, we asked Bio wines and the same chief told us that there is not and indicated to take another one that she preferred (more expensive and non Bio) so very low customer care and service. The logic is nearly like "If not you, there will be another customer"... We were so disgusted of Terrazza Les Etoiles that we paid and left another place for dessert and anniversary cake and candle. In order not to have such a bad experience, I urge you to refrain from this restaurent- Terrazza Les Etoiles. Food is not typically Italian but mixture of French and Italian dishes. To my knowledge and experienced catastrophe, such a behaviour above described falls into the description of unfair commercial practices. We spent money to come to Rome to celebrate an anniversary, but Terrazza Les Etoiles "have done its best to spoil and try to cheat "unconscious tourists'"....to...
Read moreThe only thing that was good is the view. We made an reservation online, where they require your credit card. We got there at the time, and they give us a table in the closed area, so we asked for the rooftop and they told us we can go upstairs. We got there and half of the tables were empty, so we decide to take one by ourselves since the waitres were igoring us. We were there for half our and more, there were 2 of them and everyone was already served, but that didn’t change the fact that they didn’t came to us before we called them few times. Finally, when they came, they were asking first for our reservation, even there were half of the tables empty. After that we got the drink card, the cocktails were about 20€ per one. After half hour more the waiter finally came and told us we need to take a dinner too, even that wasn’t on our reservation. We asked can we get some dessert, because we already had eat, but they told us that we can’t and they were very rude. After half hour more we got our drinks without menu, and after that, the food was just coming, even we didn’t decided what we want to eat. They gave us the same food, it was meat, fish, some chicken wings, never seen combination, nothing italian.. We didn’t eat everything, the food was nothing special, the drinks were ok. Finally, when we were asking for a check the waiter came in 2 minutes 😂, the price was 160€. We were very disappointed, the service was really bad, the waiters were rude and without respect. When you pay that much you expect at least you’re feeling well, but we just wanted to go home and...
