Le 2 Colonne — Restaurant in Rome

Staff are super friendly (giving me a chance to practice my Italian! 😄).

First day I got a cappuccino and cornetto before visiting The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore (you get a nice view of it from outside if you don’t mind the traffic… which is just part of Rome!). By the time I was finished in there it was time for lunch and I went back for the chicken salad and Aperol Spritz - also great.

Went back there this morning, and I was recognised with the same friendly greeting.

Great place considering its proximity to the station (where prices are typically higher and quality lower). This is worth a five minute walk.

Hopefully i’ll be visiting again next time I’m in Rome. I’ve tried several coffee shops in the area and this is probably my favourite.

I really don’t understand anyone giving this place...

Found this little gem by pure chance in 2002 when visiting Rome. It’s well off the tourist trail. It is well worth finding! Service was exceptional in 2002, when we were served by Sergio. It was still as good I’m glad to report, in 2017 and 2018 when we visited again. Our fabulous waitress this time was Cinderella. Food is so good here. It is extremely reasonable in terms of price and you could afford to eat here every day. The menu is broad enough to be interesting and the quality of food is top drawer. To look at the place you may be underwhelmed but look beyond its simple decor and you’ll see a clean, well maintained restaurant. We ate al fresco each time here as it adds so much to the atmosphere. We stumbled upon this place when coming back from Santa Maria Maggiore and what a find! A broad range of things to eat at a great price (I had sauteed mussels and they were amazing for the price!) . They have milkshakes but on the bar menu but you can still ask for one (it's not the culture in Europe to have milkshakes with your meals so they may look at you a bit funny)!
