Altogether, staying at the Major was a poor experience that was not equivalent to the price or reviews. Strongly encourage staying anywhere else, with more detail below.
We were told this was a great hotel in close proximity to the train station. It was a bit further from the train station then we were led to believe but that is our own fault not as much the hotel's. The bigger issue was the awful smell in the rooms and hallway. It smelled as though trash or sewage had been left out and the smell ran through the second floor and third floor hallways and rooms. There was also a handful of bugs in our room which was supposed to be the hotel's suite or nicest room they had. When we inquired about the smell and if anything could be done we were told that they would look into it the following day but because we were only there for one night, we would have to deal with it. Same response for the bugs. Understand that might have been the case but the staff did not try to look for an additional room at the hotel or even ask if they could be helpful in any manner (even if its booking at another hotel - the goal should be happy customers). The last piece that truly grinds my gears was that after asking for a dinner recommendation and being sent to a terrible restaurant we tried to very nicely mention that the restaurant wasn't great and another recommendation might benefit other guests. The prior concierge who made the recommendation and was getting off his shift looked at us with a puzzled look and said that wasn't his problem as he was heading out.
Altogether, an experience not becoming of a good (let alone $400-$500 /...
Read moreA 1-star hotel disguised as 4-star. The hotel is new and nice. However, both owner and hotel manager are in over their head. We checked in on Sunday and immediately started having issues with the AC. One vent was blowing in cold air, the other was venting very hot air. After several calls and door men that did not know what they are doing, the receptionist told me with attitude that there is no other room to move me to and she is not going to bother their maintenance man on the weekend. She said I have to wait until Monday. She suggested that I open the windows. We could not sleep that night. It was too noisy when we opened the window, and too hot when we closed them. When we came to the hotel the next day, the receptionist happily told me that they fixed the problem and that the docking system was not correctly connected. We went to our room, and there was a nice note apologizing with a $9 bottle of sparkling wine. I returned the wine and talked to the manager. I asked for not paying for the first night, and the manager had a sarcastic look on his face and said No. I learned later that the owner also refused. This hotel has no contingency plan if you have maintenance problem on the weekend. Just wait until Monday. Wherever it is AC or plumbing the answer is the same . I am 63 years old and spent half of my life in hotels around the world and I have never left a review before. It seems to me that the manager is in inexperienced in the hospitality industry and this is probably the first time the owner owned a hotel. This nearly ruined our trip. Stay away...
Read moreMy husband and I spent six night in the major hotel on April 2025. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I took down two stars for the noise at night. We didn’t try the rooftop or their breakfast. Pros: Great location, very close to termini and bus station, restaurants, market, pharmacy and about 25 minutes walk to the city centre Rooms are very small but clean, modern and renovated. While the classic room is very small, you still have everything you need like a small table with a chair, a work desk, and decent storage cabinet. The bed, mattress and pillows are very comfortable Nespresso machine and mini wine fridge in the room. Good Wi-Fi. They make up your own every day fair prices for the location. We paid about €1500 for six nights. USB outlets by the bed
Cons: Noisy at night. All rooms head towards the main street and you will hear garbage trucks, sirens and motorcycles that will wake you up every night. Only one small elevator that holds 3 to 4 people, you will need to wait for a while, especially when people are coming for the rooftop. They give you only two coffee capsules complimentary. You’ll have to pay 1 1/2 euro for each capsule, I suggest bringing your own They charge €65 for a ride to the airport while you can call a cab for a fixed price of €55 Not suitable for handicap as you will need to walk some steps to get to the elevator and from the elevator to your room only body wash and shampoo in the shower. You will have to ask for conditioner, body lotion, or any other hygiene products that are normally waiting...
