Masa Rooftop — Restaurant in Rome

Terrible experience in this place.

We came already late evening and place was not so busy, view is good, that’s the only good thing here.

First of all we asked for non-alcoholic cocktails, as we cannot drink alcohol at all strictly and the main waiter showed us and explained briefly few options from the menu. It was written that it consists strong alcohol, but he assured us that there is no alcohol. We ordered.

They brought us drink which was with literally half of the glass with ice, and moreover it was with alcohol, we were shocked! When we informed the waiter about this, he said he will bring the machine to measure the alcohol level in the cocktail, what a joke, this was absolutely absurd situation.

Second we ordered a tea. They brought us just a hot water and selection of the cheapest tea bags from supermarket. Price and quality not match at all.

As a tourists in this beautiful city, it left us such a bad impression about Italian people and service here.

The rooftop has a great view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. It is best viewed during the day in sunlight and at sunset. At night, the view is somewhat detracted by the red and green lights on the Masa rooftop. Food is reasonably good with acknowledgement of premium for being on rooftop and the view. May benefit from adding fried zucchini and eggplant chips, perhaps a savory grilled octopus. The crowd tends towards younger and more casual / informal. If see an older person there, they are probably a parent [with kid(s) there] or tourist. There may be a person or two smoking up there - it's not particularly regulated, which is kinda annoying.
