My two friends and I strolled in here reluctantly after seeing that it was empty. We’d been walking for ages, looking for a place that’d be semi-affordable for students and simply didn’t want to wait any longer.
The atmosphere inside was unfortunately lame; no music at all. My two friends and I were the only ones sitting in the front of the restaurant for the duration of our meal.
The food was nice but our real problem was when the waiter tried to charge us €8pp for two “Italian beer(s)” displayed on the menu for €4pp. He gave us two Moretti’s (which are Italian beers!). Then we got the bill in confusion at the price. He and another staff member got aggressive and accusatory when we pointed it out, showing us the option on the menu for Moretti’s at €8 each.
They tried accusing us of trying to dupe them, given we saw the Moretti glass, however, Moretti is an “Italian beer” and we don’t know the menu like they do.
Point is, the waiter made a mistake and when we told him politely after seeing the bill, he and his friend got aggressive. Eventually, they reluctantly adjusted the bill, meaning we were charged for what we ordered.
Two of us work in the service sector in Ireland and couldn’t believe the waiter’s reaction when we pointed out his mistake. I’d be scolded at work for getting argumentative with customers, here it felt encouraged.
Really bad experience which brought down the group morale on our first evening in Rome, but we met a nice man in a shop later which genuinely saved the day.
One waiter was polite and made conversation, and didn’t partake in their defence trial so shoutout to him. The food was quite nice but if you walk two minutes away you have an array of busy restaurants that look much more enticing. We learned this...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant and one of the waiter told us we could sit outside. It wasn’t full inside and we thought maybe it was for marketing purposes. We then placed our order for food. We then sat waiting for some time for our food and it wasn’t busy. While waiting others joined outside at other tables as well. Still we were waiting for our food. Finally the food came out and we were served our food last. Still trying to not be agitated by it and give the benefit of the doubt. Up to this point, no water was offered to us but to other customers then, the complimentary bread was also brought out but we were the only ones who did not receive any as well. We thought this was very interesting as It was very clear to us that partiality service was given and an obvious ignorance or prejudice on the part of the staff. This was very sad to us that not all people are treated equally at this restaurant. Amidst all this, we prayed for the staff because we are Christian’s who uphold Bible principles and desire to good (Luke 6:28 KJV “Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you”. We turned around & gave a tip to the waiter who served us almost the same amount as our food and encouraged him to do good to all men and not be partial. He was very thankful...
Read moreExcellent restaurant near piazza navona and pantheon. We have eaten here twiceI in four days. Our third dinner was at Il Ristoranre on Piazza dei Coronari which was terrible. L e Segrete had great food, good service, very reasonable price. We had the fried artichoke, pasta carbonara, gnocchi pesto, pizza com prosciutto, salad with mushrooms. tiramisu, moltipuciano d'abruzzo... One thing you can't downgrade Italian restaurants on is their use of canned mushrooms, they all do it and i don't order anything with mushrooms. Our pasta dishes are creamy and full of flavor, tiramisu was the best I have ever had, wine 16 euro and delicious 😋 we will probably go here one more time...
