During the night of the 23rd of November, we were with friends enjoying our night at the Nag’s Head Pub. At around 2:00-2:30AM, a friend of mine who is a woman, was grabbed by a man while she was dancing without her consent. We then proceeded to defend her and tell him to stop what he was doing, he followed by saying that he wasn’t responsible for his acts and that she was the source of the problem. he said exactly when we defended her “ i didn’t touch you, i touched her”, implying that we weren’t supposed to talk on the situation and take her defence.
He followed by saying that he was friends with bouncer/security guard warning us and implying that we should be careful because he was friends with him (risking to get potentially kicked out or further consequences).
Furthermore, when we confronted him about the acts, in his body language he was threatening, he had his hand in pocket pointing towards my friends as if he had a weapon in his pocket.
Before leaving, I decide to talk to the man who was responsible of those acts, in a respectful adult manner, asking him to go outside where there was no noise to talk without any misunderstandings. Immediately, took a defensive tone and attitude, he was reticent to talk to me but we ended up “talking”. I was not able to talk to him without him, interrupting and touching me physically without letting me explain to him how there is a way of talking to women.
Later on, he proceeds to say that
AS A WOMAN I should be careful of how I act/ my behaviour in italy because i could be in danger or risk “getting into some problems” and that’s not the way it works in italy. Implying violence and injustice.
I have explained our first experience in this pub as women, and how it is not safe for us and how the club does nothing to fight this problem. There are many problems present in this pub:
SECURITY staff who are supposed to prevent these events from happening, who end up ENDORSING and defending these acts and behaviours INSIDE of their place of work.
Staff who do not take us seriously and who make fun of the victim and us girls because we try to deal with the situation in an adult manner.
Hoping that actions will be taken concerning...
Read moreLast night, I visited a fantastic place for a football match organized by the ERASMUS ROME ASSOCIATION , and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. I arrived around 9 PM, and from the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming.
The Nag’s pub exudes a distinct Scottish charm, with its cozy decor and warm lighting that instantly set the mood. The interior had a perfect balance of rustic and stylish, making it a great spot to enjoy the game and relax.
What truly stood out were the staff members. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and had an effortless charm that added to the overall experience. Whether it was serving drinks or engaging in light-hearted conversations, they ensured everyone felt at home.
The crowd, filled with fellow football enthusiasts, made the night even more enjoyable. The energy during the game was electrifying, yet the atmosphere remained relaxed enough to truly soak in the Scottish vibes.
If you’re looking for a place with great service, a unique ambiance, and a passion for football, this pub is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return for another game night or even just to enjoy the wonderful...
Read moreHad a great time at Karaoke night on Friday. Returned tonight and was asked for ID, this was not a condition of entry the previous night.
My clearly younger brother and I returned, and showed his driving licence. I do not currently have a physical driving licence so took a picture of my passport to show as ID (I didn't want to bring my physical copy out at night for obvious reasons).
This was apparently not acceptable and I was turned away.
I cannot understand how no ID was needed one night then even after I went to extra effort to show a photo of ID it was not accepted. I do understand the bouncer may have just been doing his job but surely he could have used his discretion in this situation. Ruined our last night in Rome but not going to be unfair and give 1 start as we did have a great night Friday and sincerely thank you for that.
Maybe some understanding to tourists not wanting to loose passports could...
