Perhaps we came on an off day but the reviews I've read of Ops! are completely unrecognisable from the experience we had. Upon arrival we were given a table and left to our own devices. There was a drinks menu so we naively assumed someone would take the drinks order then we'd get up to get our food. Our first interaction was when the manager came over and quite abruptly, and loudly, said 'do you even know how it works here? It's a buffet! Self service!' Yes, we know, but we had hoped to order some drinks first. I told him this and he seemed put out. We went to the buffet. There wasn't much left in some of the trays. The lasagne was burnt and cold. The meatballs were cold and there were only two left. A lot of empty trays. There was no visible signage telling you the price per gram either. By the time we weighed our plates (both scales had a different starting weight!) and sat down our food was stone cold. It was, however, tasty. When we finished we were uncertain how to order desserts so my husband went to the counter. Despite pointing at which two desserts he wanted to order (having attempted to say them, in rudimentary Italian, and not being understood) we still received one incorrect dessert. It was not worth complaining about. The whole time the manager was staring towards me. Every time I looked up I felt incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassed from the earlier 'shaming' for not getting up quickly enough to choose from the depleted buffet. Naturally the food was replenished as soon as we had finished eating and looked far more appetising and hot, with visible steam. We arrived at 8pm and were gone within an hour. We had hoped for a leisurely dinner, to enjoy the buffet some more, but the cold food, lack of pricing and the attitude of the staff made us leave. We had walked 30 minutes to attend this highly reviewed buffet. We went to a supermarket and got some wine and snacks and ate them on our hotel balcony. I hope that our experience was rare. Based on other reviews it would appear so, but perhaps us vegans are just so desperate for options that we will overlook...
Read moreThis is the best vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to in my entire life. I travel for work and am always looking for the best vegan food in every city I visit, but this is the best in the world! I can’t believe the flavours, the staff and the best part for me is all the desserts are soy free! Having a buffet style is such a good idea because I love being able to try multiple things and end up getting FOMO with regular menus 😂 cannot recommend this place enough! They have also labelled the food well, and mention things that have soy in it, id say the only thing they could do is add the allergen numbers! Keep in mind it is also a little pricy, but for me it’s worth every € ❤️ Great and friendly service from the staff...
Read moreWe were greeted very warmly and our table assistant explained that you could pick up a large plate and take anything from the extensive buffet, and you would pay by weight. My plate was full of the delicious looking vegan choices, and I placed it on the scales to have it weighed. I ordered a beer and sat down in this trendy restaurant to enjoy the selection I had chosen.
It was really tasty and all vegan😁
I couldn't fit in a dessert, but did notice they had a good choice of flans, tarts, 'cheesecake' and fruits.
With sparking water, beer and a huge plateful our bill came to approx €15 per head - Good value for tasty, healthy eating in the centre of Rome. I would thoroughly...
