The best vegan ice cream in Rome (not only for vegan). I am not a vegan but milk allergic. Since I can hardly imagine my life without icecream, always search for an alternative. Tried few gellateria in Rome serving icecream for vegan, there are uncomparable with P&L. Few reasons why this one is must visit (for vegan and other icecreamlovers): Other passticeria have only few options for vegans; mostly dark chocolate and fruits. That is general made without Milk. I like creamy icecreams and miss those very much. P&L have VEGAN pistacchio (my favorite flavor ever) and nutella (!). Taste is so strong and rich, there is no doubt you eat real homemade icecream. P&L cornetto are VEGAN You can stay on their lovely terrace with the sweet corner view on Piazza Venezia (Vittoriano) and still have a price like you take it icecream to go. They will not charge you as many others do and will (its become normal nowadays The owner is VEGAN and she will gently suggest you which flavor are most compatible to bring you a perfect taste. She advised me not to mix pistacchio with nutella (who wouldn't pick that?) but rather combine dark choclate with strong and tasty pistacchio. Still, she gave me to try nutella (basically like she grab it from the jar). I ate it so fast that didn't have a time to take a photo. The shop reflects the personallity of owners; warm, charming and familiar. If you really want to shop and feel like a local, this is the perfect place. For me, this is the must stop in Roma . Thank you for this experience. Can't wait to...
Read morePistachio was good. Lemon was horrendously sour and sugary. Left bad taste in mouth.
Blonde lady mid 40’s-50’s came out of back upon our arrival. She looked annoyed that we were frequenting this business. When I asked to try a flavor, she immediately yells “ONLY 1!” I said “huh?” And she repeats “ONLY 1 TASTE” Jeez lady at least wait for someone to ask for a second taste before getting soup nazi.
If I knew Fragola Roma Gelateria was around the corner, I would have told her keep her one and shove it.
Every time we tried our single morsel of a taste test, we were scared to even ask and she made faces the whole time.
My 9 year old sister was scared to even look and wanted to run away from the vibes of the store. Apparently she saw legendary Fragola Roma around the corner, but didn’t mention it until we had to settle on our nasty lemon sorbet out of fear of lady losing her mind.
Went to Fragola. Threw out the lemon gelato, and ordered 3 more gelatos. Greeted with smiles and friendly faces.. and as many samples as possible.
Learn business, lady. This is the ice cream business. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel thinking you’re special. Fragola dunked on you and was cranking 200-300 euros of ice cream in the half an hour we sat there.
I had to vent this out for the creeps this...
