This was my first time in Rome and I was quite saddened by my experience at this location. We were looking for a place to have some wine and found this cool looking outdoor venue. Initially, the wait staff hurried us to a table and as a habit, I tried to look at what people had at their tables. It looked like the Italian speaking locals had a shared appetizer and a bottle of wine so we figured, when in Rome. However, after ordering a single water and a bottle of wine, the waiter asked what entree we would like to order.
We weren't sure of food choices just yet but then his tone changed and he took the wine bottle of the table and said if we don't order an entree we can't just sit here and have wine, we would have to pay €2 for the water and leave. Feeling confused, we decided to leave the €2 on the table and leave when he came back out saying we didn't give him the €3 for the water. Since the rest of our money was larger bills and he wouldn't admit he said the wrong number, we gave him €5 and he returned with twenty €0.10.
At this point my little sister and I were quite sad at the mistreatment and I have to admit that the thought crossed my mind more than once that perhaps this stemmed from being the only Asians. Regardless, we left discouraged when both the owner and his wife were verbally confrontational in Italian, but neither of us spoke Italian. The only thing we did understand was if we didn't leave immediately, they would call the police.
The waiter further compounded the problem by telling my little sister she lost her brain! The boss and his wife then were very confrontational in our faces and said we should leave because we got our change, they would call the police, and it would be better for us to run away. Even while we walked away from the place, they were still yelling down the street in Italian, which I'm guessing was less than polite words being hurled in our direction.
Upon reading other reviews of this restaurant, I have learned an important lesson traveling abroad for the first time in Rome. Read the...
Read moreI regret to inform you that my experience at the pizzeria in Rome was far from satisfactory. In fact, it was the worst pizzeria I have ever visited. The staff members were incredibly rude and displayed a complete lack of professionalism throughout my entire visit.
From the moment I entered the establishment, I was met with cold and unwelcoming attitudes. The staff seemed disinterested and unengaged, as if they couldn't care less about providing a pleasant dining experience. Their behavior was not only off-putting but also reflected poorly on the overall atmosphere of the pizzeria.
Furthermore, the quality of the pizza itself was incredibly disappointing. The crust was undercooked and doughy, lacking the crispy texture that is expected from a well-made pizza. The toppings were sparse and haphazardly scattered, leaving large areas of the pizza bare and tasteless. It was evident that no care or attention to detail was put into crafting these lackluster creations.
Given the dismal service and subpar quality of the food, I strongly advise anyone considering dining at this pizzeria to stay away. There are numerous other establishments in Rome that offer a far superior experience in terms of both service and taste. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more deserving pizzeria to satisfy...
Read moreWorst restaurant experience of my life. The bill was hefty, and 20 euros higher than expected. 10 Euros for plates and utensils (wow!!) and 10 euros for a terrible 5 pieces of bread (without any dips). The waiter was defensive as soon as I asked what the 10 euros were for. He basically said that someone had to pay for the bread (that we did not order and did not touch). He also said that this is the way restaurants work in Italy. I replied that that's only his restaurant that works this way. He then went on saying that a family of 5 should order more than 2 pizzas, expensive bottled water, 2 appetizers and coffee. I asked him if he wanted my small children to order food and leave it on the table untouched? He replied sarcastically that he does not know. My reply was: "then please let the father decide what to order for his kids. You don't decide for me what we should eat". Of course I refused to pay for the bread and he started yelling and acting crazy. At some point, when I said: "either you remove the bread from the bill or you call the cops", he cursed at us (in front of my kids)...What a horrible place. What a horrible experience. At least now he knows that Americans aren't stupid. We may be tourists, but we don't take BS from anyone. We ended up paying 43 euros instead of 53. What a...
