Mariondo & Gariglio is not just a chocolate shop – it’s a piece of living history. This refined boutique traces its origins back to the maître du chocolat Carlo Enrico Cuniberti, originally from Turin, whose vision and artistry laid the foundation for what remains one of Rome’s most elegant and authentic chocolate experiences. The craftsmanship is evident in every piece: rich, balanced flavors, perfectly tempered textures, and an aesthetic that honors both tradition and excellence. Whether you are sampling their pralines, ganaches, or signature assortments, each bite transports you to a world where quality and heritage come first. A must-visit for anyone who values true artisanal chocolate and the cultural blend of Piedmontese finesse and Roman soul. Bravo to Mariondo & Gariglio for keeping this delicious legacy alive.

Must stop in Rome I have traveled all over the world and have bought plenty of chocolate which I brought home and never ate them again! I went out of my way to go here and purchased chocolate and now I’m so sad why I did not buy more or why I sent an extra box to my son! (lol) The taste is out of this world. Old school, a lot of solid chocolate! But if you do not like solid, try their cherry or rum ones to die for! Even their orange peel chocolate is fantastic. If I go back this would be the first place to stop and I will buy much bigger boxes of each item (will take a suitcase just for this) & I’m not kidding. Not sure why I like these place more than any chocolate shop in Paris, but I know it taste different and it’s amazing

A beautiful place run by the kindest people who are proud of their chocolates and their history. My wife and I stopped in to buy some gifts for some coworkers, and left having sampled and bought extras for ourselves. A host of creative and fun chocolates can be found at this beautiful shop located in a great area to visit.

This old style, elegant and family-led, cozy "chocolateria" is nestled mid way between Piazza Venezia and the Pantheon, beyond the crazy Via del Plebiscito; it takes you completely away from the hectic traffic and shows you the beauty of a family run business, based on tradition, since decades. All sorts of homemade chocolates, cookies and small sweets (perfect for a dinner present or giveaways!), this sight really makes you feel like a child in a toy shop! I give it a five-star vote, certainly for its quality; not for their attention to the customer, as it all appeared a bit "tired", with lack of primary dedication when entering the shop, although they revealed to be very gentle once engaged by my questions. It's worth a visit and a try of their specialties, hot chocolate in winter and wonderful homemade spoon ice...

I was looking for something to take back to the my co-workers in the states as a remembrance of an amazing 3 weekly holiday in Italy and came across this confetteria in my guide book. It met all my qualifications: needed to be edible, non-perishable, sweet, something one could only purchase in Italy, and not too expensive. Although the last qualification was a bit of a push (at roughly 1€/candy) Moriondo & Gariglio fit the bill. The two female workers spoke English reasonably well and described all the candies so I could better make my selection. They even let my wife and I taste-test some of the pieces and did a beautiful job of gift wrapping the boxes. If you're looking for a classy, sweet present for that special someone or even your friends back home - this is a...
