After visiting the Colosseum, we were starving and looking for a local, authentic place to have lunch. We stumbled upon this simple, quiet pizzeria—and it turned out to be a hidden gem. They had a nice variety of pizzas, and even made two fresh ones: a classic Margherita and a delicious mushroom pizza.
The pizzas were incredibly light—not heavy or greasy at all—and packed with flavor. The simplicity made them even more satisfying and filling. The smell when they pulled them out of the oven was mouthwatering. You could really tell everything was freshly made with care.
This is a family-run business, and the people there were so kind and welcoming. They even invited us to help cut the pizza, and we took photos and videos of the whole experience. The atmosphere was relaxed, with great music playing in the background, and they offered a variety of drinks as well.
Sometimes, the best taste is the taste of simplicity and kindness—and that’s exactly what we found here.
Best of all, the prices were very reasonable—much more affordable than many other spots in the area. Honestly, it was the best pizza I’ve had in Rome. Highly recommended if you're looking for a warm, genuine, and delicious pizza experience near the Colosseum....

We've been awake for the last 48 hours after flying in from Australia at 8am. No way we were going to make it to Rome's traditional 8:30pm dinner time, so we stopped at Sforza Piero for a quick bite at 6pm.
The proprietor helped us with ordering in English, walking us through the pizzas he had left (they were close to closing).
You order by the slice and pay by the kilo. Between the 4 of us, we probably ate the equivalent of a 12-14" pizza spread across 4 different selections. Total cost was 15 Euros.
The tomato sauce was packed with flavour and the pizza base crispy. All our toppings selections were tasty.
There are just the 5 seats at the bar, so if you go in a group and there are others there, you're out of luck. Don't go looking for an Italian Trattoria experience, because you won't get it, but if you're hungry and looking for a quick bite at a good price, go for it.
I would visit again, however I would target earlier in the day to get a wider...
Read moreFantastic, local pizzeria!!! You can buy by the slice if you're in a hurry, but it's worth the wait to order your very own fresh pizza. The crust is like nothing I've ever had. One of my favourite meals in Rome was in my hotel room on the bed with a nice bottle of wine, cheese, prosciutto, and a Pizzeria Di Sforza Piero pizza. A Roman, gourmet feast at its finest.
I've been to Rome several times and visited there a couple of times each trip. They didn't speak any english and my Italian was beyond poor but with a lot of pointing and nodding I was always rewarded with an amazing meal. It's a pretty small, barebones place and you may walk by it a couple of times but it is definitely worth searching out. You will not be...
