We saw wonderful reviews and went for this place. It was full of American tourists like us. While everything in Trastavere was packed, we got a seat quickly, but then no one came by for 20 minds. I finally waved out the person who sat us too, and he asked someone to come over. Another 10 mins and twice asking, and the guy comes by. He ignored when i raised that we weren't even being acknowledged. I thought it was a language barrier. Two other tables seated at the same time got bread and appetizer, and we had yet to even be asked. A few minutes later, the first guy comes back and takes our order. When asked for bread gets that but no plates. I hear that rude server conduct perfect conversation in English with soothe table. The only difference between us and others, we were the only non Caucasians there. I never use the race card but not b sure what else made the person ignore.
After all that, kids are hungry and my younger one was eying the seafood pasta so stayed back and v decided to make the most of the night and dinner.
The food was average at best. Wish at least that was not the case after all that. I really didn't want to let someone ruin our evening but even food was bland, and low of flavor or salt. pasta was cooked well though.
I would not recommend this place to any one.
Great people...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante La Scala in Trastevere, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. Our first interaction with this establishment was promising - our reservation was honored on time, and the customer service was excellent. Our attentive waiter ensured we had everything we needed for a pleasant evening.
While we opted for an outdoor table and didn't get to explore the interior, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the terrace. It was a fantastic vantage point for people-watching as passersby strolled by or dined at nearby restaurants, and the atmosphere was vibrant without being too noisy.
Now, let's talk about the food. The truffle-infused pasta, aptly named "tartufo pasta," was an absolute highlight. If you're a fan of truffle and cheese, this dish will have you craving more. On the other hand, the lasagna was decent but didn't quite reach the same heights. To wash it down, I ordered an Aperol Spritz, which was a perfect match for the pasta.
If you're seeking a restaurant with a great location in Trastevere, good food, and efficient service, Ristorante La Scala fits the bill. We had a wonderful evening and would recommend it to others looking for a cozy dinner spot in this charming Roman...
Read moreReally disappointing place. The waiter had zero will to be there and provide a good experience to his guests. Nobody explained us the menu, when I asked how many dishes should we order for two people the only answer was an ugly face. When we order, I asked for two glasses of wine, to try the Italian wines - big surprise for me, they brought us the wines already served in the glass and didn’t even gave us to try. Guess what, the wines were not to our tasting and of course it was a complete waste. The cheese with quail egg and truffle was good - i believe it’s impossible to ruin cheese. Then we have the spaghettone a la carbonara and tagliatelle ai frutti di mare - let me tell you… my boyfriend cooks a better carbonara. Has too much egg, salt was zero and the guanciale was harder than a 3 day old slice of bread. The frutti di mare were everything but fresh. Extremely small octopuses with zero flavor, not even salted. The mussels were completed damaged and the clams were clearing frozen. This ristorante was recommended by a friend but and a big...
