Owner Roberto physically assaulted a woman in front of customers. If it is recommended to you by your hotel DO NOT GO.
After waiting an hour to pay our bill my wife complained to owner Roberto Quagliarini. He gave her an attitude and she said she would be leaving them a bad review at which point he threatened her saying, and I quote:
“If you were a man I would take you outside and punch you.”
Earlier we had nicely moved tables for them when a bigger group arrived early. He had told my wife we could have said "no" to moving (lol). We got a bad vibe from the place right when we arrived when none of the staff was ready or dressed for service (should have known then).
I was in the bathroom when Roberto threatened my wife and I yelled at him when she told me what he said. He backed right down, then got 4 of his waiters to push me away from him as he threatened to call the police (what a joke after he threatened a woman). He wasn’t so tough all of a sudden.
The waitstaff proceeded to push me out of the restaurant, and when my wife tried to intervene Roberto grabbed both her arms and tried to push her into the street. This was in full view everyone sitting outside. She got away from him at which point Roberto ran back inside like a coward with a few of the waiters.
It was laughable watching the staff gang up on the two of us after Roberto threatened a woman like a coward. They seemed to know the kind of person they’re working for. Looking at older bad reviews this wasn’t the first time they were a problem, just look at some of the owner responses and you see what you're dealing with. Wait till they try this when the numbers are even on both sides, guessing they’ll be running away and hide like their boss did.
This is absolutely the worst restaurant in Rome. We went through all of this for horrible food served by a horrible staff for what was nothing more than a tourist trap. The only reason we didn't file charges with police was because we don't live in Rome. But we do have evidence of everything that happened should we decide to file a lawsuit which we're still...
Read moreAfter a week of eating touristy food in Rome, we were looking for somewhere better to eat. It was almost 9pm, which is late for us to eat dinner but not late for Italians. We looked on Yelp and found this place not far away, so we walked. There is outdoor seating and the restaurant is nice from the outside, not located in a tourist hotspot. The waiter told us we needed a reservation to eat outside so we ate inside. The indoors was air conditioned which was a welcome luxury after a hot day. It was also unique and the layout was interesting. The waitress was extremely nice and helpful and spoke English well, which was all different from what we had experienced in Rome all week. The food is pricey but well worth it. The fillet I got was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The others in my group were very much satisfied as well, with dishes such as carbonara and lasagna. The tiramisu was some of the best I have had in my life, and the crème brûlée was good as well. Overall, this restaurant was definitely worth a short walk and a quick look on Google/Yelp to see reviews. You will not be disappointed with the food and service, especially if you are tired of eating overpriced...
Read moreBest food and experience on our Rome trip.
First off, our server made the experience. He was attentive, made good suggestions, pleasant in interactions, brought some humour but didn't overstep either. Service was simply spot on.
The food..well they almost had to roll me out of the place as I was so full. The smoked marlin was almost indistinguishable from a great prosciutto ham. Very flavorful and only in the last taste did the fish come through. Absolutely delicious. As our second starter, we had baked pecorini, equally delicious. For our mains we had fried amberjack as the daily fish, juniper beef steak which was perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Because it was so delicious, decided to try the tripe which was sadly sold out so tried the oxtail instead. The rich tomato sauce reminded me of a stew with the meat being tender enough to almost just slide off the bone.
We rounded out the evening with a tasty Tiramisu and a chocolate pear pastry tart which did not disappoint.
Of course wine was added to cleanse the pallet ;) or so we tell ourselves.
Highly recommend this...
