Furbo means sly in Italian, which is a perfect description for this trattoria and the wait staff. After two weeks in Italy, this was the only time we felt we were taken advantage of because we were from out of town and would never be back again. At the end of the meal, it was clear that they did not care that we would be unhappy with our experience.
We actually had a reservation for the trattoria next door, but my son showed up first and asked if this was the trattoria that we had reserved for 7 people. The waiter lied and said he had our reservation and had my son wait while they put together a table. ( By the time the rest of us arrived, my son had ordered an appetizer and some wine, so we felt like we had to stay and I headed next door and apologized and explained what had happened. My first clue about this meal should have come when the owner of our intended restaurant explained that this was not the first time this had happened!).
In any case, after upsells on wine and food ("trust me, you'll like this better"), absurd planning between courses ( some of us got all three courses immediately, while others watched for an hour before their first food arrived), and a few incredibly poorly executed dishes, we were done.
I lived in italy for a while and am accustomed to the standards for service at a trattoria. But the waitstaff, who was charming and attentive for italian speakers, was completely inattentive and rude to the foreigners in the restaurant. I do speak italian, so this dynamic was very clear.
So my recommendation is to find a restaurant that would appreciate serving you a good meal, not one that will have disdain for you and try to take as much of your money...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible. Staff were fantastic, spoke perfect English which is always a great help. Friendly, polite and offered recommendations which were spot on. We arrived at around 8:30 without a reservation but were given a table for two in the middle of the restaurant, after half an hour or so the restaurant was full. The atmosphere was quiet to begin with but as more customers entered, locals and tourists, the levels increased. Great selection of food and wine with I think something for everyone. We started with a glass of prosecco as an aperitif and followed by starters. Buffalo mozzarella was excellent. We continued with the carbonara and the oxtail parpadelle. Both were full of flavour and enough for a main meal so we skipped the second course and went straight for dessert. 1 tiramisu and 1 peach cheesecake, a special of the day, both were fantastic and recommended by our waiter. We finished the meal with a limocello and a coffee and asked the waitress if she could help us with a taxi, with which she was very accommodating. We had an absolutely wonderful night and want to thank the staff who were extremely friendly and happy to have our service. Sometimes a rarity for a visitor to another country. Highly recommend this restaurant and would happily eat...
Read moreI did not expect to have such a great eating experience in this restaurant. Everything looks promising but looking at its rating at time of booking (4.3) I assume it would be good, but not memorable. It deserves a higher rating based on my experience. We had booked on Google, which is convenient, service was quick, and food was delicious. I’m not a desert person but I have to say the desert stole the show - and yes, the tiramisu is amazing (that’s what my wife had) but the vanilla cream is even better! Rest of the diner we tasted their delicious chickpea soup and both ravioli plates. Note that like many upper scale restaurants in Italy, ravioli are small portions, about 5-6 pieces so if you’re used to main course being only pasta, this will be too light (but we knew it so all good for us). I have to also recommend the pear and cheese ravioli which was a surprisingly good flavor blend. Loved it, highly recommended! Great work in the kitchen to...
