A friend and I stumbled across this hole-in-the-wall while walking back to our hotel from dinner at nearby Roscioli (also highly recommended). Crazy barman/owner Marco pulled up some chairs for us, introduced us to the other guests – who’d also only just met – and before we knew it were part of an impromptu drinks party on the tiny piazza. Spontaneous moments like this are what travelling should be all about! When I came to pay by credit card and discovered they only take cash, I was concerned as I didn’t have any on me. Marco wasn’t fazed – he just told me to come back tomorrow with the cash, which I did. Marco, who is a native Roman, has worked all over the world (including my hometown of Sydney we discovered) he’s a true hospitality professional and also a wealth of tips on where else to eat and drink well in Rome! Thx Marco – see you again soon I hope!x

Fun hole in the wall kind of bar. Bartender Marco will give you his well curated recommendations (his list seemed quite excellent) of local places to dine and coffee at, and regale you with friendly stories of good nights in Rome. On the day I went, Euro football was on, and several drunk locals were loudly joking with each other, nbut there's more than one seating area, so you can spread out and enjoy the little square outside the pub too. There's a sort of easy, local, unpretentious vibe of this place that I really enjoy. For the price point, you be the judge: I had a cocktail happy hour special (7 euros) a single jam cookie, and an iced espresso, and the total bill was 13 euros. The interior also features a case with pastries and sandwiches to fill up when the beer is hitting.

I visited here on a whim and the owner Marco was extremely friendly and taught me a lot about Sicily (I’m convinced I should go now) and Italian soil. Being a solo traveler in Italy can be hard with some stuffy bars and restaurants that may make you feel awkward but this is not that at all (~: I hung out here for several hours comfortably. The drinks were also good! He suggested a passion fruit spritz which I much preferred to a classic aperol spritz. The lychee yuzu spritz was also delish. Never even looked at a menu. Will be back!

What a find! Marco is awesome… makes you feel right at home and damn he makes good cocktails! Real cocktails btw… think high end cocktail bar in a relaxing, chill and friendly environment! To top it off he gave me a desperately needed list of local places to go to avoid the bad tourist food and bars! AND a place up the street that looked good I wanted to go, but was worried about not having reservations. What did Marco do? He walked with me to the restaurant before they opened, introduced me to the owner and chef, and got me a table. When does that ever happen? And wouldn’t you know it that meal wound up the best food of my entire 2 week trip to Italy. By FAR! I cannot possibly be happier...
