One of the best bars I’ve ever been into. Despite the bar was closed due to remodeling, when I asked if they could serve me a beer since it was my last day in the city, no only they didn’t refuse, but they made me feel as part of the gang immediately and give me a “cold as hell” German beer. What else could you expect from a place ran by the owner 🫡 If you’re staying close to Vatican City, this could be your best option to have a drink and a great time.

I just love the place: second time coming to Rome, second time coming there The staff is always nice, always asking if you need stg, they have a HUGE choice of cocktails, of shots, of beers and very, very good prices Also the staff always speak good English so definitely a place to check if you're from abroad, and good luck to find a cheaper Guiness outside of Ireland! Go check it, it's perfect!

Great hospitality, awesome service. Whenever I go out in Rome I always make sure to stop by at The Basement they have great drinks at reasonable prices. Bartender is very knowledgeable in drinks and if they don't have a drink, as long as you can give a vague description of what you want they can make a great drink for you. Love this place

If you’re looking for the best bar in town, The Basement is it—no question. It’s more than just a bar, it’s an experience. The atmosphere is unmatched: intimate, vibrant, and somehow both laid-back and electric at the same time.

But what truly sets The Basement apart are the bartenders. Albina , Adele, Julius, and Ezzio are absolute legends. They don’t just serve drinks—they create vibes. Whether they’re mixing up something classic or surprising you with something new, they do it with personality, skill, and a genuine friendliness that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time.

The Basement was my favorite pub to frequent at during my time spent as an international student in Roma. The owners are incredibly attentive and professional, and are consistent with their commitment and vision to the pub. The Basement is conveniently located just blocks away from the Vatican, and is in a safe, popular area of Roma.
