I took this photo from the rooftop terrace at the Borromini Hotel in Piazza Navona is a truly spectacular spot that showcases Rome in all its glory. Perched above one of the city’s most iconic squares, this terrace provides an unrivaled panoramic view of the Eternal City, blending architectural brilliance with historical depth.
From this vantage point, visitors are treated to a close-up view of Sant’Agnese in Agone’s magnificent dome, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture designed by Borromini himself. The intricate details of the bell towers and cupolas, set against the backdrop of Rome’s endless rooftops, are a sight to behold. To the left, you can spot the spire of Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza, another Borromini marvel, and further afield, the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument stands proudly on the horizon.
The terrace also offers a unique perspective of Piazza Navona, with its vibrant atmosphere and Bernini’s iconic Fountain of the Four Rivers. Adding to the charm is the imposing Egyptian obelisk, perfectly framed by the square below. The statues on the terrace, gazing over the cityscape, lend a poetic, almost surreal touch to the experience.
Whether you visit at sunrise, when the light dances off the domes, or at sunset, when the city glows in golden hues, the terrace provides an unforgettable experience. Perfect for a quiet aperitivo or a romantic evening, it’s a space where the history and beauty of Rome come alive. The Borromini Hotel terrace is more than just a viewpoint—it’s a gateway to the soul of Rome, offering a moment of tranquility and inspiration amidst the city’s...
Read moreThe view and location aside, this restaurant's staff is using scamming tactics to maximize your bill. Upon our arrival, we were presented with daily specials described by a waiter. He specifically mentioned no price. When asked, he said that since it is a special dishes, he doesn't know the exact price yet, but it won't be expensive. The dish we ordered end up 120 euro. The same story with wine, after description, what we like, a sommelier brought 3 bottles: basic, more superior and "king of wines" choices and was asking to make a choice with no price mentioned. When asked about the price, the wine was 90, 150 and 350 euro. For a bottle of white wine! I asked something in 40 - 50 range and was given the regular menu with many options in that price range. However, the sommelier just left the menu on our table and left with no interest in recommending anything to us in that price range. On the menu, all prices, however on the high side, but are normal for this type of establishment. All the specials and wine suggestions are way overpriced and they don't disclose the price. Food was very average and probably the worst I've tried in Rome (stayed 3 nights). But most disgusting part of the experience is that the stuff just ruins all experience for you by taking advantage of the situation. Don't go to this restaurant and more specifically don't plan any special events there. If you go, order from the menu and don't expect good food and...
Read moreFor dinner we went to Terrazza Borromini for drinks first in their roof top bar with the most spectacular views across Rome 🥂After a cocktail or 2 we made our way downstairs to one of the fanciest restaurants I have ever stepped foot in. We were actually sat just inside from all the diplomats that were visiting Rome for the new pope being elected!! 👀 For Food there were some amazing sounding specials and 1 of us ordered the fried artichoke from the specials, which was surprisingly delicious! Starters for our table included Seabass Carpaccio and Beluga Caviar, Burrata and Anchovies and Burrata and Truffle 🐷
For Mains: I went for a simple Cacio é Pepe, the birthday boy went for a WHOLE LOBSTER 🦞 and we also had Veal Meatballs in a tomato sauce 🍅
The dessert was by far my favourite course, we had a mixture of fruits made into ice cream/sorbet. The dish consisted of Strawberries, Kiwis, Monkey Nut and Chestnuts. The Kiwi and Strawberry were honestly some of the best sorbet's I have ever tried. The fact they have created the sorbet/icecream and put them back into the skin of said fruit was just incredible. 🍓🥜
This restaurant (and the rooftop bar) gets busy and booked up quite quickly so if you are thinking of trying here (which I would highly recommend if you are in Rome) you will need to book...
