Our on-going search for 'authentic gelato' which has lids on the containers, no bright colours or unusual flavours feels a bit of a fad.
Quinto has the lids, it also has a lot of flavours. So contradiction to various tourist guide websites. We had the standard 'traditional' sea side cone for €3. The server confirmed we could choose 2 flavours, so better than a 'traditional' gelateria we visited previously.
The menu was in multiple languages and the server spoke English well so little confusion. We were also offered cream on top of the gelato and had a wafer added to eaxh. So compared to the UK, excellent!
Everyone enjoyed their gelato flavours and my only gripe with mine, black cherry, was the bright sauce which was very sweet. Pistachio tasted pretty much identical to several others.
Polite service and good ice creams at a good price. The addition of a waffle cone would elevate the gelato even more.
My favourite remains Mancusso Gelati which is close to the Trevi fountain. Yes it does cost more, €3.50 waffle cone and still includes the wafer and offer of cream. Potentially more...
Read moreI love this place so much that we went twice back to back days. Their granites are made with actual real fruit blended with ice. It is more like almost a smoothie that is drinkable and so refreshing.
My kids got mango & some got strawberry. I got the passion fruit and mango granite both visits. (it does have bits of ground up crunchy passionfruit seeds, but I appreciated having extra fiber with Italian food that seem to lack fiber! One of my kids ordered a frutti rosso which was like a mixed berry granite & that also had tons of seeds but was a good thing!)
The gentlemen working here are friendly and patient and warm.
There were many customers who came here for gelato and one who seems like a regular who came for a huge bowl of cut fresh watermelon!
There are only two tables inside and two or three tables outside, but I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy fresh fruit, and quality dessert.
The granite here is so cooling and the perfect thing on a...
Read moreHave to leave a review so others don’t fall for the high reviews this place has. I’ve tried gelato from different cities in Italy including Bologna and Florence. This was the first gelato place we tried in Rome and we went because it has hundreds of reviews and rated 4.7. A few reviews said don’t judge it by the shop’s look because the gelato is nice so I decided to trust them. Regrets. The gelato was pretty bad and I didn’t finish it. The only bad one I’ve eaten in Italy so far (out of the 10 or so places to date). My tiramisu was icy and the vanilla was definitely not made with real vanilla. I’m really not sure where all the high reviews are from - people who haven’t eaten amazing gelato or have lower standards? They don’t sell Sicilian granita. It’s like a slushie they make fresh with fruit and ice. 2 stars because the granita was refreshing and the staff...
