Excellent food. We unfortunately got sick during our stay in Italy and didn't feel much like walking around to eat. Thank god Da Luigi was a 2 min walk from our hotel. We ate there almost every day for lunch and dinner over the 5 days we were there and got something different every time. Every dish was great. The only disappointment was they were not open on Monday, which we totally understand, and so we had to eat somewhere else which was not as good as Da Luigi. The bucatini all'amatriciana was fabulous and just the right amount of spicy and the guanciale was perfectly crispy! The lasagna was excellent and so were the pizzas. They were actually the only restaurant we ate at in Italy that served the margherita pizza with basil, as it should be, so we appreciated that as the basil does give the pizza that freshness. After eating there almost every day of our trip we realized a lot of locals come to this restaurant so that's how you know it's actually good. We would absolutely eat here again and would recommend it to anyone. For the reviews that complain about wait time getting their server or bill, they probably are not used to Italian culture where most local people intend to take 90 minutes- 2 hours to enjoy there meal slowly and enjoy the company. Do NOT expect it to be like customer service in the USA where they rush over to you and rush you to get out. We found the staff to be extremely nice and if you want them to take your order faster or get the bill faster literally all you have to do is ask and they come right over to you. Inform yourself of local customs before you travel and don't have the same expectations you have in your home country and you'll enjoy your...
Read moreMy husband and I came upon this place accidentally. the owner was so kind and welcomed us in even though they were already closed. He allowed us to use wifi to find directions, and invited us in for a glass of wine while we waited for our Uber. His kindness reminded me of my Italian family, the way I know Italians to be, and was refreshing in contrast to our experiences at restaurants near all the tourist attractions in super central Rome. We decided to come back the next night for dinner and made reservations and honestly we couldn't be happier with the service and quality of food! My husband ordered the roasted lamb which was flavorful, tender on the inside, and charred perfectly on the outside. I'm a sucker for a good pasta and ordered the bolognase which I devoured in minutes because it was so so tasty. We are so happy we found an authentic place not far from central Rome with amazing prices! We've already made reservations for our...
Read moreOn our way to the airport, we grew hungry. Being in rome thats an issue that can easily be addressed. First we wanted to sit where our feet told us to. 33 waiters approached us, all trying us to sit somewhere else: "ittuh wel be ketting hot, with sun Sittuh 'ere pleash." So we re-sat. One came with the menu:" questo , et questo,et questo qui, non che." So we asked him to supprise us. Us being 3 people. White wine, red wine, even the sparkling water: all great. 3 different meals :all good. Ver-ry good. All the waiters started talking to us about a customer who almost suffocated, but was rescued by another customer who, after the rescue, just disappeared.. That story toke about an hour. An italian hour..who's keeping an eye on the time. Great food + great staff gave us a beautiful lunch to enjoy. I would definitely recommend to spend your breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever, there. And they have fish, just forgot to tell...
