DOM HOTEL ROMA . . . #hotel #luxuryhotel

We love this hotel so much we’re visiting again! We originally booked a double - we loved the room and how spacious it was but did have an initial problem with the room door not closing/locking properly and bouncing open (an issue with the seal). We told reception whose suggestion was for us to call the concierge to our room to forcefully slam the door each time we wanted to leave. We let them know we weren’t comfortable with that solution and they upgraded us to a junior suite the following day. This room was so amazing we actually booked it for our return trip later in the year. The bed was fantastic, the shower was amazing, there was tonnes of closet space - truly a great room. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we loved the location - the hotel is opposite the anti-mafia building and there were always soldiers standing guard outside which made us feel super safe when coming back late at night! The location was great and only a short taxi trip from all the main sightseeing locations. It felt like a nice peaceful area without being too tucked away.

Nice little hotel in a central, pleasant location. But that's about it when it comes to positive aspects. The backlog of renovations is clearly visible, and the once successful interior design is now worn out and shabby. Right outside our room was a construction site that caused deafening noise from 7 a.m. onwards. The hotel apologised, saying it had only been informed of the construction three days before our stay. Anyone watching the video will realise that this construction site has been there for at least three months! You can skip the breakfast – the staff were unable to bring a hot coffee. Three attempts, and each time the coffee was cold or barely lukewarm. The waitress became rude and impolite, and even after half an hour, the boiled eggs still hadn't arrived. Tip: better to walk 30 metres around the corner to Café ai Bianchi Vecchi. Overall, a disappointment – I wouldn’t book this hotel again, especially considering its regular rate of €1000 per night. At least they offered us a free transfer to the airport (€55).

Great option for Rome short stay.

We were in Rome for a couple of nights and found the Dom Hotel through Mr & Mrs Smith.

It is tucked away on a back street, opposite the counter-terrorism offices so very secure. As quiet an area as I suspect you can find in Rome too.

The hotel is a boutique, so not huge, although it does have a bar, restaurant and rooftop. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

We had booked a junior suite, largely because no other choices were available and we had two big suitcases and other bags with us, and the room was certainly spacious. It was modern in design, with a low bed, but very comfortable to sleep on.

The bathroom area was very spacious, and the rain forest shower was of reasonable strength - all with Acqua di Parma toiletries.

If I had one criticism, it would be that for all the space in the room and bathroom, it is not well optimised as there is nowhere to really rest items on - either for toiletries, or a dressing table area, which was a little frustrating. I think having two bathroom sinks but nowhere to put a washbag is not really logical. Likewise having two towel rails and a seat in the bathroom but nowhere for ladies to sit and do their make up against a well lit mirror is also a little peculiar.

I would recommend for a short stay, and the staff were excellent, but if I was the owner of the hotel I would rethink the room layout a little as that is what is stopping me from...
