Trattoria Dal Cordaro (Roma) - Vino e Cucina romana dal 1922 — Restaurant in Rome

Tradizione e storia si fondono con una cucina romana genuina.

La peculiarita' e il fascino di Roma è quella di riuscire sempre a sorprendere gli astanti sia coloro che hanno la fortuna di viverci sia coloro che se la godono da turisti. E così, dietro un angolo apparentemente nascosto o insignificante, è  possibile fare nuove scoperte, imbattersi in contesti che racchiudono generazioni,epoche, storie originali, fortunatamente ancora custodite e ben radicate. La visita presso questa trattoria romana ne è un esempio, anche grazie alla passione e alla disponibilità del ristoratore nel fornire informazioni e indizi davvero utili ed interessanti sull'intera area. Sito appoggiato alle mura Aureliane e collocato nelle immediate vicinanze della iconica Porta Portese; per secoli punto di accesso per viandanti, pellegrini e cittadini provenienti dal versante Sud, oggi meta del famoso mercato. Ma se si ha l'accortezza di allargare l'orizzonte si scorge, a due passi, quel che resta del complesso portuale di Roma - il più importante, Porto di Ripa Grande (dirimpetto l'Ospizio San Michele), -  ed ancora più vicino, l'Arsenale Pontificio. Ed è proprio in tale punto, fuori le mura della città, denominata la "Bufalara" (per la presenza  di bufali utilizzati per il tiraggio delle merci provenienti dalla sponda del Tevere) e dove, nei secoli scorsi, artigiani come carpentieri, intenti a riparare chiatte e barconi, o cordari, intenti a "menare" la ruota per fabbricare corde, lasciarono una traccia significativa. Passato che si cerca di tenere a mente attraverso l'intitolazione di un locale che proprio quest'anno ha varcato la soglia dei cento anni di attivita'.

Location rispondente alle caratteristiche della tipica  trattoria romana per elementi, mobilio (un gran  frigo anni'50 che cattura e porta indietro nel tempo) e struttura di pregio dall'eccellente stato di conservazione, con spunti che richiamano anche il concept osteria su cui il locale trae origine, (dal 1902 e per un ventennio). L'atmosfera è calda e retrò. Notevole e non comune in sala la presenza a parete delle mura aureliane. Tale elemento, unito alla cura dei dettagli e la conservazione di tanti elementi ne fanno un'icona. Le sale interne perdono quel poco in privacy per la vicinanza dei tavoli.

Menu: la cucina romana domina tutti i piatti. Materie prime espresse ed ottime, dal pane all'antipasto della casa, un trittico composto da trippa, concia di zucchine e fagioli; tagliolini cacio e pepe deliziosi che rispecchiano appieno la  tradizione: per la corretta cottura al dente, per la cremosita', per bilanciamento nei sapori, per l'assenza di oli e per il corretto dosaggio del pepe; vino bianco della casa (Frascati) buono.

Servizio: rapido, attento, semplice senza mai perdere in professionalita' e cortesia.

Conto: abbastanza congruo, in linea con il contesto.

Nel complesso, esperienza positiva. Meritate cinque stelle. Il sito...

Don’t waste your time if you’re looking for a good meal. I give three stars for the atmosphere as they do have a back patio that looks nice, but my wife and I were sitting in a side room that looked like a dungeon, even though we had reservations

The food wasn’t good. The Fungi Porcini was bland, and the Cacio Pepe, at best, was “ok.” The Marinated Roman Zucchini was terrible. We could not eat it.

The lady at the front was, unfortunately, the first rude person I had to deal with in restaurants in Italy. She never looked at our faces; when we asked for a better table, she told us to sit where was available or leave, and when I explained that we could wait for a better one, she said that our options were the table at “the dungeon” or leave.

I can imagine that if you sit on the patio and only have drinks, it might be a good option, but for a nice dinner, look...

P.S. I recommend everyone read the reply from this restaurant. This restaurant openly states in the reply that: They are racist. Looking down on Chinese people and making fun of them. They lie without hesitation to protect themselves. They make fun of their customers.

I am just giving an honest review of my experience. I don't want others to have a bad experience like I did, even though I paid money. I will write it again in English briefly so that everyone can read it correctly.

We went for lunch. We paid about $100 for 4 people. My caucasian friends, who were able to use the restroom, but I was told to go outside. Don’t use. Even though I explained that I was a customer who had eaten, I was told that I could not use the restroom. At that time, they lied and said that there was a line for the restroom. (I was in a position where I could see the door of the restroom.) Everyone has different tastes. The noodles at this restaurant were fresh and ok , just average taste.But the sauce was just salty. The sausage and pasta that my friend ordered were just salty and not tasty. It has no depth or richness flavor, just a salty taste. My friend was trying to order more wine and dessert, but we were treated in a very unpleasant and racist way, so we were all disappointed and stopped ordering.

By the way, I am Japanese and not Chinese. I am very disappointed that it became clear that the people at this restaurant have very rude feelings and attitudes towards Chinese people. It is disgustingly attitude towards the Chinese people.

“it's like we came to China and demanded to review your steamed dumplings. However, il the bathroom is occupied you have to wait your turn... I think it works the same way in China too.”

PS We wanted to have dessert so we went to a small cafe nearby. Their tiramisu and chocolate dessert was delicious, not too sweet and had a great mascarpone flavor.There are some great restaurants near by that I would recommend to...
