I'm proud to say that I was able to guide my family through Rome for 2 weeks without ever getting a single bad food experience. As we're leaving tomorrow, I was confident my streak would continue.
Then we waited an hour and a half for gnocchi that tasted like air and a burger that ended up being dry, hard, overcooked, and tasteless. It's a burger. It's not complicated. I don't understand why the reviews are so high.
Also, at the time, the restaurant was running a speed dating event or something and it was extremely noisy. However, I noticed that no one there was eating aside from us, so why would it take so long to serve our food?
Thank you for breaking our good food in Rome streak. I'm not the type to complain to managers even if an experience is bad. We ate our food as we were hungry (except the hoof of a burger), paid, and left without a word. I understand if you have kitchen difficulties but you never expressed any and just let us sit there seething.
This restaurant is a blight, a dark shadow, a blemish, a black bruise on an otherwise perfect vacation.
Edit: as a response to the reply of the restaurant:
We arrived at 8:30. Our reservation with thefork confirms this. We left at 10pm right after you served the burger. We left it there without eating it.
As I said, we finished our food because we were hungry. We didn't like any of it. Having finished a dish is not an indication that we liked it. We had no choice as it was already late at night.
If you had a problem with your fryer, you should have said so before we ordered instead of having us wait for an hour and a half for something that's not edible. And that's not an excuse for being unable to cook a burger properly. Give me a piece of wood and I can make a better burger than that.
Also, your remark that we should eat just Asian dishes is ridiculous. We've been eating Italian food everywhere in Rome and like I said, we never had any bad experiences except for your restaurant.
Instead of being defensive, admit your faults and learn a lesson. It's a burger. It's not...
Read moreIt is a beautiful and clean place, and the bartender was great. The drinks were delicious. However, for me, the food was mediocre at best. The carbonara was ok, not the best nor the worse, but the risotto was the worse I’ve ever had. I am not sure if it genuinely tasted bad or if I just didn’t like it. The garnishes were poorly chosen, as the smell of the sprouts was not complementing the smell of the cheese in the dish. The paprika and the poppy seeds were also off putting and out of place. It looked like someone threw everything they could find on that plate. The colours of the garnishes are also unfortunate, especially the sprouts, as it is clearly shown in the images, it looks bad... I didn’t tasted any cheese despite having a strong cheesy smell. I was expecting something extremely different, as the dish didn’t match the description in the menu as a risotto with cheese fondue (and saffron if I remember correctly - there was no saffron just misplaced paprika). Unfortunately, I was unable to eat that, and I strongly believe that the recipe should be heavily altered. I also didn’t like the bread, and one of the plates was chipped.
Overall, the rice was quite expensive, about 16 euros for such bad risotto. I usually don’t complain about prices, as most of the times I think it is justified for the skills and good recipes, however now I think the price is excessive for a small dish of poorly cooked rice. The food in their pictures look nicer, perhaps the chef was away and a beginner took their place. On a better note, the place is clean, especially...
Read moreI had an exceptional dining experience at Vino e Peperoncino in Rome, near the Vatican. The food was outstanding, offering a delightful blend of traditional Roman cuisine with Calabrian influences. I highly recommend trying the cacio e pepe with 'nduja—it’s a unique and flavorful twist! Don’t miss out on the Jefferson Amaro as a perfect digestif. The decor is simple yet elegant, and despite being in a touristy area, the atmosphere feels authentic and welcoming. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, making the whole experience truly memorable. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a fantastic...
