Osteria dei Mercanti — Restaurant in Salerno

To start, the waiter threw the menus at our table without even greeting. We ordered the octopus appetiser, the ricotta ravioli with shrimp and spaghetti carbonara, together with some wine of the house. The waiter said they no longer had the carbonara, so he offered me to try the dish of the day (pasta with fish and a tomato-based sauce).

The octopus was fresh and tasty, but we had to ask for the wine several times as they seemed to keep forgetting it. They also forgot our order and asked us what we ordered twice.

Between the appetiser and the food, we waited over 50 minutes, although newly arrived clients got their food much faster, including the supposedly out-of-stock spaghetti carbonara.

The pastas felt like store-bought and not fresh at all, while also quite undercooked (way more undercooked than al dente). Both the shrimps and the fish tasted like frozen. The food lacked seasoning and was quite bland.

I'm not sure why the high prices and positive reviews. The restaurant is below average at best and not...

We are dining here for the second time in three days, and once again, the experience has been exceptional. The authentic Italian cuisine is crafted with the freshest ingredients, resulting in dishes bursting with flavor. The pasta is cooked to perfection, al dente and fresh, just as it should be. The fish is equally impressive, fresh and lovingly prepared.

The highlight of the meal is the house specialty, lemon tiramisu. It surpasses anything I've ever tasted, with a perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and refreshing flavors. The service is outstanding, prompt, and courteous, even in these hot days, with flawless execution.

I would be honored to return each year and be served by Luca, whose service adds to the overall...

We eat there two times, the first time we order starter meal which was some salads with fresh fish/octopus and and was really delicious and fresh and prizes were okey. But the second time we were here for dinner, we order rizotto (worst rizotto i ever try...) and crab with spagetti both of the food was really horrible compare with their prizes.... their tiramisu was not god either. Overal it is really expensive restaurant which i guess it can be okey but only when they server quality fresh food and not this.... dont recommend...
