Museo della Tortura e della Pena di Morte — Attraction in San Gimignano

Very informative and impressive little museum with original and reconstructed instruments used for the (gruesome) execution of people from the antique until now. Not for the faint-hearted, though: a lot of wax figures or old stitches demonstrating cruel and bloody techniques are shown. Text tables provide plenty of background information, and one should take time to read everything. There doesn't seem to be any age restriction, and I frankly was surprised seeing parents with their little kids in this place. A lot of the material is horror...

There were two different buildings we were able to enter as part of the museums offering. Really unique and pretty intense! It showcases some pretty graphic scenarios and mechanisms that have been used throughout time to torture or kill criminals.

I thought it was kind of fun and a different experience. If you're coming from Siena, I think from what I could see looking it up online, the same museum in Siena might have a lot of the same items so only do one or the other if you're traveling...

Gran bel museo! Non è il classico museo con opere d'arte o quant'altro, già dal nome capisci che non troverai cose che sono adatte a tutti gli spettatori (bambini). Da parte dello staff massima collaborazione e una cortesia unica! Mi ha solo urtato vedere turisti toccare varie cose ( o aprire il foro di Falaride) ma per il resto non ci sono lati negativi almeno a mio dire. Un plauso al falegname che è riuscito a riportare in vita alcuni progetti del grande Leonardo da Vinci, invece un altro plauso va al museo che è riuscito a comprare sia riproduzioni fedeli di attrezzi da esecuzione un esempio posso essere la ghigliottina o la sedia elettrica, ma la cosa più carina secondo me è il fatto che è presente anche un piccolo giardino con alcune macchine da guerra medievale. avrei solo una piccola critica, quella di sistemare gli attrezzi da tortura per periodo storico. Ma oltre questo non voglio dire altro.
