If you go to a place named TARTUFO, you expect to find even truffle flavoured water instead of just some truffle grated here and there. The place itself is pretty, nice atmosphere and good staff, but the food is definitely underwhelming. I mean, food very well presented, but where is the flavour? We started with a slow cooked pheasant breast which was good and gave us high hopes for the following "tagliolini al tartufo" and "cappelletti ripieni di ricotta". The former, overcooked, no taste (luckily the waitress grated a whole ball of truffle on it). The latter, not much more than some fresh pasta with ricotta filling bought at the supermarket. And, do we want to talk about the 9 euros for a glass of wine for which the bottle could be easily found for less than 20 euros? Ok being fancy, but that was definitely overdoing it. Not everyone is a tourist, some people know the value of the food they are eating! Two stars for food presentation and place, zero stars for quality/price. Not...
Read moreWifey and I stumbled on this place as we walked to the city. We were the first customers for dinner time. Staff were extremely professional and all speaks English very well. We did no research on this prior and accordingly had no idea what the price range would be. They provided us their a3 sized menu (in my mind I was thinking holy molly) but was reasonably priced. We ordered 3 dishes (truffle themed) as per the photos and the favorite was the pasta, buttery and simple, complimenting the truffle. The main course being the beef cooked three ways was also very satisfying. We ordered their cheese platter which showcased the cheese offered in the region, including a hard truffle cheese. It did not disappoint! On a side note they were very generous with their truffles unlike in Melbourne! Overall atmosphere was very romantic with great views, perfect score for service and food was very nice. Highly...
Read moreA wonderful tailored experience for Italians and foreigners alike. Tar-Tufo's tasting menu provided a beautiful romantic experience with my girlfriend and I. With a 5-course tasting menu that had me tearing up at the main course, I had no idea that food could taste like it does here. For Americans specifically, it is integral you take your time and slowly enjoy and savor every bite. We were there for 4 hours and enjoyed a gorgeous patio view of the Sienan countryside and probably the best bottle of Sicilian white wine I've had during my trip here. It's indescribable how amazing the food is here. The prices are rightfully placed, and this was 100% more than worth what I paid. Overall I had an over $200 bill, but you can certainly enjoy a simple course here for much less than that, but I wanted a specifically amazing experience for my girlfriend and I, and was it worth it. The best food I have ever...
