I very rarely rate any restaurant or leave a review but this restaurant is very unique to the area and I hope is considered when deciding where to eat to support the business.
Iâve been living in Siena for ~8 years and have at times felt desperate for an South Asian restaurant. At times Iâve even commuted to Florence with friends just for an Indian meal. Growing up in the US with a large South Asian community Iâve always loved this food and worked in a South Asian restaurant as a cook for 4 years.
This is top notch. They will accommodate all reasonable requests and are knowledgeable of both the Italian and Asian palettes to produce the best possible meal. I personally like as spicy as possible which they were easily able to make that fit perfectly with the flavor. Most importantly, they will listen to your requests. Italians love to give their input on food to get the right taste and I think (maybe incorrectly) that it dissuades Sienese people from exploring non Italian restaurants more often because they tend to get more out of the box meals. That said, this restaurant can hold its own with some of the best South Asian restaurants outside...
Read moreSome of the best Indian food I have ever eaten, having been brought up on curry as a student in England in the 80's and have eaten all over the UK, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, US etc. We had a take-away as it was fully booked so best book a table in advance. The standard Beef curry was great as the meat had been marinated and was really tender AND I asked for it Vindaloo and it was. The samosas (we had chicken) were in filo pastry and beautiful and the chapatis were good but the dall was amazing as the lentils were still slighty al-diente. Brilliant! Also compared to other Indian Restuarants in Italy exceptionally good value. Anyone who gives a bad review is a muppet. Everyone who loves Indian food should go here, even if you are only visiting Siena. At last a curry house here (where we live) and a...
Read moreI was really disappointed with this experience. The food arrived cold, had no flavor, and didnât taste like Indian food at all. It also had no salt and took more than an hour to be ready. After we paid, I politely said thank you and mentioned the problems, hoping someone would take responsibility. Instead, the owner just shrugged and said he was having personal problems. He blamed the cold food on the waitress, who only started working three days ago. That didnât make sense. How is it her fault? The foodâs quality is the chefâs job, and this was just not good enough. Very disappointing. There was no one around our table and the nearby tables to...
