I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this establishment is especially deserving of one. I have never had such a welcoming and positive experience like this. In addition to eating amazing and well-priced food right on the water, it’s really the people that made this experience one I could never forget.
Eugene (also nicknamed Al Pacino) is one of a kind. I was really scrambling to find my ferry, and he went out of his way to help and provide directional assistance. Then, after missing my ferry, he not only welcomed me back with open arms, but even went the extra mile to let me stay there and hold my luggage while I figured out my situation. I ended up staying there for 3-4 hours and felt no pressure to leave whatsoever. If anything, he consistently checked in to make sure everything was alright.
Besides my personal experience, the service was exceptional, the food was extremely tasty and fast, all the staff were sooo nice and friendly (to the point where it lifted my spirits so much that I honestly almost forget about my shitty ferry experience beforehand), all while being surrounded by beautiful views right by the port docks.
I want to express my greatest thanks to Eugene and everyone at Ristorante Ruccio. You guys are like none other....
Read moreI understand asking for a cold coffee in Italy is not normal and I can appreciate that but I specifically said, “ice, milk & espresso”, my boyfriend and I were served 2 ‘coffees’ that were more like a frappe and his was so sweet and tasted like it just had a drop of espresso and as if it was full of sugar and he has diabetes so he couldn’t drink it and mine tasted like straight milk. So then I told the waiter ‘I’m so sorry we cannot drink these, may we please just have an espresso’ I was very respectful and wasn’t trying to offend anyone but neither of our coffees were drinkable. Then we get the espresso and it was burnt and bitter… so then I asked for a glass of ice with milk on the side so we could at least try make our own iced latte with the burnt espresso. Finally I asked the waiter for the bill and said ‘I’m happy to pay for the espresso & milk but not the 2 frappes that we didn’t drink and we’re still full on the table’ the waiter responded saying ‘madam there is nothing wrong it is your fault that you don’t like them’ and we were charged £15 for the burnt espresso shot we forced down. Would not recommend this...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing. Could not recommend highly enough. Extremely relaxed, friendly and professional atmosphere. The waiter noticed my fiancé looking at the sea bass which was a special served with linguine. We could not make our mind up between risotto or sea bass and the waiter offered to cook the sea bass and serve with a seafood risotto. The views are amazing and from start to finish the service was exemplary.
When it came to settling the bill we were extremely surprised by the price, for the quality of food and service we had expected it to be more expensive than it was.
All in all great value for money, great service, great food.
You can also call ahead and pre book and a complementary taxi will pick you up from your hotel. After dinner we were offered a complimentary lift back too.
This place is a must visit for anyone coming to Sorrento!
Thank you to all the staff, we had a lovely evening and will be back before we return home!...
