Learn moreWe waited at our table for about 15 minutes before ordering...our server must have been new ? We asked for a wine list and waited another 15 minutes before another server came by and asked if we had ordered yet...he brought a wine list finally...of course they were out of what we ordered... tried again and got our wine. Waited another 20 minutes and had decided to just pay for the wine and leave but our food finally arrived. The mussels were good but very small and not worth the hype and the fried fish platter was more like a fried bait platter...tiny shrimp, some sardines and anchovies... totally not worth it. We were ignored from that point on while the Italian families near us were treated well. Never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert...we travel to Sicily every year and this was one of the most disappointing meals we've had in a long time... such a shame. Our bnb host knew the owner, but after we said hello to him he ignored us too ! Not sure why this place gets such...
Read moreAbysmal service, very, very average food on the day I visited, truly disappointing. I booked ahead, showed up and it was impossible to get anyone's attention to actually sit down. They literally just rushed past not even responding to buona sera. Service so impersonal, not an iota of warmth or care, terrace super cheap and nasty looking and too bright. My raw red prawns were nice enough, digestion duct not removed, served with artichoke cream and plate drizzled w some sort of red pepper cream/sauce. Identical condiments and sauces used with my grilled octopus main (so average), it was also served with cold tasteless potatoes, cooked hours and hours ahead no doubt. Coffee is served in strange glass implements and tasted burnt. Definitely wont be back, so expensive for such poor food - the same octopus 100 times better in La Lisca 50m away...
Read moreIf you’re in Ortigia, this is the place to go. The food is locally sourced and the flavours are great. Especially when paired with a bottle of Italian or local Sicilian wine. The owner, Fabrizio and the whole staff are great. Really welcoming, friendly, professional and all proficient in English. Even the crowd is a mix of Italians, locals but also many tourists from all over! Great atmosphere and we got also a nice band playing live music for the restaurant. Food recommendations from me: the octopus in Love and the fresh pasta with Sicilian local red prawns and truffle shavings. Don’t forget to try the traditional almond biancomangiare. Super light, flavourful and simple dessert. The basil panna cotta is also a favourite. I would definitely visit again. Highly...
