This is unfortunately why I cannot trust even google reviews now. This restaurant was by far the best food experience we had on the trip, and yet at 4.3 (Aug 2021) was found near the bottom of the recommended restaurants in Syracuse. On Ortigia there are dozens of restaurants that are listed at 4.7 and above, yet after eating at several of them, none even came close to Porticciolo.
The sea food platter was an amazing assortment of raw and fried sea food that was unparalleled during our week in Sicily. The Sea Urchin pasta was simply heavenly, with the sauce showing so much respect for the ingredients and no element overpowering another. Finally the Sea Bass baked in salt was hands down the best fish of the trip. So tender, moist and flakey, we dug every ounce of meat out of it before sending it off.
Cannot recommend this place enough, do not miss this restaurant if you're...
Read moreThe food is whatever, but WATCH YOUR BILL LIKE A HAWK! When I received mine, the prices seemed suspiciously high. I had to get up, grab the menu myself, and – surprise, surprise – every single item was overcharged by anywhere from €1 to €3. I confronted the waiter, and suddenly, the owner materialized behind me, ready to argue and feed me some garbage about how the menu prices had changed. I shut that down quick – it’s not my problem they haven’t updated the menus. They "fixed" it – supposedly – and brought the bill back. Guess what? Still wrong. This didn’t happen once or twice – it happened FIVE times. Yes, you read that right. This kind of constant back-and-forth is completely unacceptable. It reeked of a scam, plain and simple. Be warned: If you eat here, check every single charge, or you'll end up paying far more...

First dont expect that you are going to have the food that is shown in the photos. We were charged 15 euro for a pasta that suppose to have gamberi which even a four year old noticed that there was none. I was charged 16 euro for a plate of pasta which should have calamari included but there was none. My wife ordered a salad caprese which suppose to include mazzorella but there was only some lettuce and no more than a half tomato which cost 6 euro. We were olso charged coperta for a four year old boy. In a few word we were ripped off. I should advice you that you should not even think of booking a table in...
