Have been to the shelter a number of times and the food is always very good. Not to mention our Wedding celebration in 2018. Luciano and his family have always been such good people, including Manuel. Shelter has and will always be a place of significance for my wife and I.
We both ordered the Filetto Pepe Verde. The steak was perfectly cooked. Very tender and the sauce was absolutely delicious. Served with baked potatoes.
For desert Torte Almonde cake. So moist and very delicious. We also had the Semi Freddo, so yum!
The service as usual was very good. We were looked after very well. Will definitely be going back before we leave Taormina.
Edited December 26. As expected we went back to the Shelter on Christmas evening. We ordered the Vegetarian pizza. It was absolutely delicious! Then the Lasagne. Omg it was sooo good! My wife had the Pennette Shelter. After tasting it, full of flavour! With the pasta cooked perfectly.
FYI. We have been to the Shelter a few times. The photos you see aren’t from...

We were shown to a table and then we're told off for sitting down as the table hadn't been set. Ok... I ordered the pistachio gnocchi and was told it was tomato and mozzarella today, I didn't have any chance to change my mind as the waiter was so grumpy. I had to ask three times for the bill. We just waited and waited. The rich American tourists were treated completely differently with free glasses of wine given out as they were shown to their tables. I know we're only mere tourists but we are the lifeblood of restaurants like this. Why not just make a bit of effort. We were polite and ordered...

That's how we stumbled across Shelter. We'd been on our feet all day, and were ready for a respite. Who knew that their signature drink (The Shelter) would live up to its name?
The food though, is the star of this restaurant. My wife and I shared three plates(how Spanish of us!): An Antipasto Rustico that really made me feel we'd arrived in Sicily. The combined flavors and textures made it an instant favorite. The Foglioline Al Gambero satisfied my cravings for both, a good pasta with a rich sauce, and tender shrimp. Delicious! ...and a Crema Ai Funghi, a mushroom soup that was wonderfully done.
All in all, this place was a fortuitous find for us, and I would...
