Since we love Indian cuisine, and as a huge fans of Indian food we visited this restaurant in Trieste. It is located next to the viale XX Settembre, a street that is extremely popular in Trieste. The restaurant is decorated in typical Indian style and the atmosphere is nice. The choice of dishes is large, and is prepared according to traditional recipes. From the menu we can choose between the daily menu or a la carte. We mixed a little bit of both. We wanted to taste as many dishes as possible. We started with Samosa (Puff pastry rolls stuffed with potatoes, peas and spices), Paneer Pakora (Fresh cheese in chickpea flour batter) and Chicken Tandoori (Porzioni di pollo marinato con spezie cotto nel tandoori). We then proceeded with Chicken Korma (lightly spiced chicken curry with the addition of yoghurt, almond and cashew cream) and with the unavoidable Chicken Curry (lightly spiced chicken curry), Palak Paneer (spinach pate with low-fat cheese). Contributed was Basmati Rice with Butter Nan (Bread flavored with butter and tomato). We had Gulab Jamun as dessert (Milk-based dessert with syrup). The service was extremely good. The staff was friendly and professional. Prices are acceptable. All praise...
Read moreLocated in a narrow street, you wouldn't expect it to have a lot of outside terrace tables, but they made it work using the pedestrian street a little down the road. Already, for the atmosphere 5/5, as you are seated in between multiple restaurants' terraces, featuring live music and open air. Personnel was friendly and every dish was brought to the person that ordered it, which isn't as chaotic as when you're with a larger group (we were with 6) but still it shows attentiveness. Food was delicious and I was astonished it reached the table within 20 minutes (!) of ordering it. We were even given a starter on the house (papadum)! I'd highly recommend getting the palak paneer if you're a fan of it, it respects the original dish very well in my humble opinion. The garlic naan was small but very tasty.
Most of all I was stunned by how little we were rung up. 6 people dined for less than 100 euro excluding tip! Sure, we didn't take desserts and we ordered 2 liter flasks of drinks, but still, the majority of Indian cuisine is expensive because you order...
Read moreone of the best indian food i had in years. i had a long love/hate relationship with indian cousins.my good friend is from delhi and he would cook indian everyone i visit him. but when i was living in princeton NJ so many years ago, i had a massive bad case of indigestion after i visited one of my favorite indian restaurants. after that i only ate what my friend cooked, never went to a restaurant again for 16 years! this time in trieste i told my husband we should try to see if it is better than in the US. he was hesitant. but after dinner last night, both of us raved about how tasty the food was, he level of spiciness was just right! and staff was very friendly! furthermore, for someone with a very sensitive GI system, i did not feel any discomfort whatsoever at all! we will return for sure when we come back to...
