Meh if you're from the US or UK you're probably used to Asian, Oriental or fusion style cuisine so I'd say you're better off using your time in Trieste to hunt down more typical dishes from the region. It feels like this is aimed at locals who are searching for something a bit different, but compared to Bao and Korean fried chicken we've had in Scotland it wasn't amazing especially for the price.
In terms of service, we arrived at ten to 9 on a Friday evening and didn't have anything on the table to eat till an hour later. Even allowing for there being people sat outside and the inside being half full, you can't pitch yourself as informal street food and have people waiting that long.
Again in comparison to other places we know with a smaller kitchen and staff, something's not working right here on the staffing level. Especially as the chef seemed to spend a fair amount of time chatting to passing friends at the door of the kitchen (including cringey bro handshakes - sorry kids you're not cool). Does feel like the vibe here is that style is being prioritised over substance.
Probably the best approach here if you drop by is to get a drink on a stool at the bar area and get a couple small bites as bar snacks, that's probably better than coming...
Read moreWe spent a few days exploring beautiful Trieste and enjoying a local cuisine, but at some point, we were craving for some fried chicken and burgers. We were so happy to discover this place! The place itself has a really cool vibe, the staff is so cool and attentive. The menu is quite interesting, you will find Asian specialties, sandwiches with “Italian Nonna” twist, but since we were craving fried chicken and burger, we went with chicken waffle and burger with bacon, peanuts and banana (my husband really wanted to try this one).
Let me say that the chicken waffle was one of the BEST things I have ever tasted in my life! The flavors were SPOT ON! Initially I asked for some spicy sauce on the side, but gave up as I didn’t want to mess up the flavor, it was sooo perfect! My husband also loved his (banana peanut) burger, it was such a crazy combination, it tasted amazing! The owner is a really awesome guy, you can tell how much he loves what he does, and he even gave us his home made ketchup to try - we can’t wait to come back to Trieste and try more stuff from the menu and get more of...
Read moreNotwithstanding its name and category, It is definitely not only a Fast Food. It is absolutely not all about chicken. It is a mix of fusion, international and Asian cuisine, with impeccable touches from Croatia and Canada, where the chef lived, I was told. The regular menu is not particularly rich, but food and quality are excellent. First quality ingredients that you can spot and tell from the first bite. I gave a try to the house specialty: "porchetta di gallo" sandwich. Delicious!!! Also the bottled drinks, especially beers, are peculiar and very selected. The place is not very big, so at peak hours it can be really packed. They also provide a take-away and delivery service, however service to the tables is quick and easy going, and the owner has always an attentive and keen eye on his clients. The place is cool, with a relaxed atmosphere and, last but not least, prices are definitely good! Excellent restaurant for quick lunches or dinners, also for tourists. Italian, English, French and some German are spoken. Definitely a place where to go in...
