La Piola Sabauda — Restaurant in Turin

The experience of tonight has been bad. We were a table of 14 people. We arrived between 20:00h to 20:30h. The restaurant was half empty at that moment. Until past 21:10h they didn't come for the ordrers. We ordered few starters (cold dishes) that arrived around 21:30h. At 22:10h, the main dishes were not yet at the table when, in the meanwhile, other tables that arrived at the same hour had finished, gone, and the next clients sitting and being attended on that tables. Others that arrived later than us, on the desserts. The worst part comes when I went to the waiter (the girl with the piercing in the nose) and politely asked how long would it take for the dishes. Her face was like she didn't understanding me, so I replied we arrived more than 2 hours ago and we are waiting for the main dishes. Serously, her: "You have been brought the starters". You have to wait. -Yes, but 1 hour after we ordered. You have to wait. But now it's been 2 hours we arrived... (from behind the screen, without looking at me): You have to wait. I am just trying to say in a positive way that we are waiting. The restaurant is full, you have to wait. Do not take it as a personal offense, I just wanted to let you know that we are waiting... Then, she stopped attending our table. The other girl forgot my desert -which is not a problem, this can happen, but when you have been treated in a disgusting way before and you already do not feel confortable the experience gets worse easily-. Finally, the price was 43€ per person -expensove for what it was-. We ordered 3-4 shared starters, wine (not a speficic one) and one dish and desert per person. The food was nice. If I pay this amunt of money, I expect more than nice food. Some of our col·legues had to leave the dinner before we finished because it became late. We left the restaurant later than 23:30h, being the last table of the restaurant. And we did it just after the last deserts were eaten. Finally, my italian colleague asked the waiter about the situation. And I perfectly could understand the justification she gave to her: "the pasta needs time" and "it was a language misunderstanding". Honestly, you don't need an English proficiency level to understand a behavior, a voice tone, a non verbal language... a polite person....

Very decent and very nice if you are more than two people. I ate there two days ago, and though I cannot complain, the explanations were so confusing that even the Italian couple next to me were a bit confused. I was lucky to get a table outside for one. Today I went there again. The whole restaurant was empty... The couple who arrived seconds before me got a table immediately, without a reservation. But when my turn came, instead of asking me if I had a reservation (which would be logic since it was the first thing they asked the couple) as soon as I asked for a table for one, in a very, very, disagreeable manner, the lady told me that "all the tables were booked" and they accepted no more customers. I went to a restaurant around the corner, had my dinner, and came back the same way... three quarters of the tables at the "Piola Sabauda" were still empty. Don't go there if you are not in the mood to deal with...

Had a reservation on sunday 26.02.23. but it was my on mistake that i forgot to confirm the reservation. I was informed about it on arrival. The disappointment was the handling of the owner. We were the first guests of the evening and waited first on the door. While we were entering, there was still one free table. Instead of offering the table directly, they took time to explain us the mistake of reservation but parallel gave the free table to the guests after us, even though they had no reservation at all and arrived as a second. So we had to leave and the once´s after us got the table. I have been to this restaurants two weeks in row before so it was very unpolite and they should have offered the free table to us and not give it away during their explanation to us. Very disappointing and unprofessional, so i´m really sorry about the bad evaluation, as the food is amazing...
