Bon Bon — Restaurant in Varenna

This has got to be the best dessert shop in Varenna. We went every day, twice (and sometimes three times) a day for the entire duration of our time in Varenna. There's so much choice and so many different things to try, and the staff are so lovely and energetic. Some of our favourites were the pistachio ice cream, lemon ice cream, I forget what it's called but it's #02 on the board - a wafer with strawberries and cream with cream ice cream and strawberry syrup with some crunchy sprinkles, SO good. Their strawberry ice cream is out of this world. And when it's really hot and you need to cool down, their slush drinks are amazing - I had the blood orange and lemon.

If I could rate it more than 5* I would, because I have not tasted fresh, smooth and creamy gelato as mouthwatering as this!

Highly recommended for those who like a service with a friendly smile, outdoor seating, a whole range of gelato options with different types of cones, crepes, shakes and coffees... just perfect.

rather go to the ice cream shops on the waterfront. I went there a few days ago to buy ice cream. I chose a small cup for my two-year-old son. First he wanted lemon ice cream, when the saleswoman was just about to put lemon in the cup he suddenly wanted raspberries and whined. I then asked the employee if she could add a little bit of raspberry from the spatula so that it was a little pink, then he would be happy. The employee was quite nice and explained to me that you can only make one type of the small cup, but she asks her boss. However, the boss was not friendly, almost arrogant in the way she said it wasn't possible. Child friendly equals 0. Sympathy 0. It was an extra request for the ice cream from a child and not an adult. the ice cream is only squished into the cup with a spatula anyway, why is it too much to ask for a small, minimal trace of strawberries or...

Would come back to Varenna just to visit this place again! 🍦

The passion with which the young guy was making and serving the gelato is unbeatable! He is in suuuuch a great mood, that you cannot not be happy afterwards! Makes me quit my job and come serve gelato in Italy! 😍

And the gelato? Don't remember having such a delicious one ever! A true masterpiece! I tasted a few flavors which I've never seen before prior to deciding on the final scoops. And oh boooy, was it good! You won't make a mistake no matter which you choose, as they are all fresh and prepared in front of you!

Also, the price is unbeatable! I think I never paid less anywhere else in Italy (even other places in Europe). I think 2 (for me quite large) scoops were 3€.

Skip all those Gelaterias along the coast, and come straight here,...
