Varennahouse — Local services in Varenna

Avoid at all costs! I have booked many hotels through Booking.com, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. We booked a room with a lake view, what we got was a wall view. When we contacted customer service to request a change (even offering to pay extra), the man on the call shouted at us, told us to “go complain to Booking.com,” and hung up. I have proof of this in the chat logs, he kept talking over me and didn’t let me speak.

The room itself was freezing cold. Despite asking for the heating to be turned on multiple times, it never was. There was no milk or coffee provided, the windows had no curtains (completely compromising our privacy), and the overall condition of the room was extremely poor.

To make matters worse, checkout was supposed to be at 10:30 AM, but at 10:00 AM, the man unlocked and opened our door with his keys without knocking, while I was still getting dressed!

This place is completely unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. I would never recommend it to anyone. Book elsewhere and save...

It is also important to add that we saw the cleaning man arrive 10 minutes before our checkin time. When we tried to contact the owner, he barely responded, and treated us with disrespect (told us to open the window, "it is a nice evening"). The shower ran out of hot water after 15 min. We later noticed that the bad smell comes espacially from the bed and it having stains. After not recieving any help from the owner ( he told me it's strange without adding anything else), we decieded to leave the room asking for a partial refund. The owner only told us that we are disrespecting him and blocked us without offering any help. I strongly reccommend spanding a few more euros on hotels nearby and avoiding this place...
