Casa Contrada Bella Accommodations — Local services in Varenna

Casa Contrada Bella was the perfect place to stay and our host Diana was absolutely amazing, even saved our honeymoon! It's in a great location, within walking distance of everything you'd need for an amazing stay - delicious restaurants and gelato, shops, bars overlooking the lake, a wonderful sunset spot steps away, beautiful buildings and scenery, transportation, points of interest and yet very quiet. The room was immaculately clean and well serviced with many extra amenities - even homemade pie, and was re-stocked regularly. It was also a very lovely and well-appointed room, light and airy with a very comfortable bed and a great shower.

Diana had all of the best recommendations on where to go and what to see and had excellent advice for us throughout the trip. In fact, when we needed to find emergency dental help on a Sunday afternoon, she even helped me get to the next town to an open pharmacy, went in to speak with the pharmacist to help with translation, and was able to help us find a dentist that was willing to meet with us on a Sunday evening to do an emergency tooth extraction at an unbelievably reasonable cost. She literally saved our honeymoon trip and helped us the whole way through the situation, her kindness will not be forgotten. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. My wife and I had an amazing experience staying at the Casa Contrada Bella. We stayed in the Dove Gray Room which had a bedroom and a separated living room with kitchenette. Even though we only stayed for two nights, there was enough space to comfortably stay here a week or more. The host, Diana and her husband, have done a wonderful job at making it cozy, clean, and decorated with taste. You feel as if you are staying at your own home. The bed was extremely comfortable. We slept soundly and peacefully both nights. The bathroom is large (for Europe) and the shower was amazing. The location could not be more perfect as the apartment is located in the main plaza area. The lake is only a few steps from the apartment. We opted to park our car at the parking garage (arranged by Diana) which is a 2-3 minute walk from the apartment. From the anpartment we could easily walk by foot to everything we needed. The ferry boat is only a 10-minute walk and from there you can visit the rest of the villages on the lake. We found Casa Contrada Bella by chance on Google map and it turned out to be a gem in Varenna. The house is charming and very well located, it is surrounded with good restaurants and sightseeings, and about 10 minute walking to the pier. We stayed in the Dovey Gray room. Lovely room with all amenities we needed. With the daily cleaning, the room was always clean and fresh. But it was the host Diana who made our stay perfect. Diana welcomed us with open arms from the moment we got off the taxi until our departure. She took all the time needed to show us all the sightseeings in Varenna and the other towns of Lake Como. When she knew our next destination was Milan, she gave us maps and showed us all sightseeings of the city. Diana always wanted to make sure that we were comfortable and had all what we needed. At the day of our departure to Milan, there was a landslide close to Varenna. All trains from station Varenna-Esino going in direction to Milan were suspended. With the help of Diana and the taxi driver Monica, we could arrive to Lecco, which is 40 min away from Varenna, in order to take the train for continuing our trip to Milan.
