My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to get a quick drink and were enticed inside by a member of staff/owner with the offer of discounted drinks and a free wine spritzer. The staff seemed friendly but started to become quite suggestive and making quite unprofessional remarks. When sat down we were offered water & garlic bread “for the table” (garlic bread was two thinly sliced cross section of baguette topped with chopped tomato and a tablespoon of cheese)

I had ravioli and the girlfriend had tagliatelle with lobster. Both meals were tiny portions and bland. My girlfriend was still eating the little remaining food on her plate when the waiter came and piled the plates up on one another and performed a magic trick. He walked off came back with the bill.

For two beers, a water, what looked like two starter sized portions of food & a two slices of garlic bread the bill was 122 euro. I understand Venice prices but this no way worth the money. Ultimately…. we were also gobsmacked and questioned a 13euro charge and when we asked what this was he explained it was city tax. I refused to pay as we had already payed our accommodation and had not been charged it in any other restaurant. He took it off the bill after blatantly trying it on said “it’s ok, I’ll tell the boss customer was Chinese and didn’t understand”

I was glad to leave and felt robbed by the service, quality and price of their meal.

We had the misfortune of dining here on our first night in Venice. We were not greeted upon arrival to the restaurant but in fact ignored by the older lady for five minutes until we literally had to ask if they were going to seat us to which the waitress finally motioned us in. When the younger waitress came to take our order we requested a Margherita pizza with mushrooms and wanted to confirm that the pasta didn't have alcohol to which the waitress was shockingly inappropriate and gawked at us at both of our orders and insisted that this was a ridiculous notion that the pasta would have alcohol. She was very condescending and rude to the point that while we patiently waited for our food, she walked straight over to the chef and loudly mocked us in Italian right in front of us. We understood exactly what was uttered and had to confront her on her unprofessional behaviour, to which she was ashamed and finally apologized. The penne was mediocre, the pizza was soggy and low quality. Needless to say we dined somewhere else for dessert where the staff was courteous, warm,...

Food=Bad, Service=Worse

I was reluctant to go to a place so close to San Marco and all the tourists but saw the place in a guidebook and read some reviews and didn’t seem that bad. First off we wanted to order wine by the glass-the server only listed half of the types they actually had even though I told him my husband and I drink different wines. When we asked for a bottle of still water he brought us the biggest one without even asking and when I questioned the server his comment was “you looked thirsty.”

One of the servers was obviously intoxicated or high-we discussed this with other tables. He brought me the wrong meal and had to wait for the right one to come. My husband had the spaghetti bolognese and I hand the lasagna. Both were absolutely tasteless and were not worth what we had paid. We could have made better dishes at home. We left as quickly as possible. Would never recommend this place to...

Al Chianti probably the best place to dine in Venice. Located not too far from Piazza San Marco. We stop because we saw someone ordered mussels, and believe me, it was really good! The steam mussel cooked with white wine and butter. It was really fresh and well seasoned. Came with bread where you can dip the bread to the sauce. Super goody! We also ordered margarita pizza and 4 cheese gnocchi. Pizza was also really good. For the Gnocchi, it was also good although I have tried a better one. The service was great and super friendly. The place is rather small so prepare to sit tightly with other guests. Price was okay considering the size of the dish. Overall it was a great experience and we would really love to come back.

When looking online for good restaurants near P.San Marco I stumbled on “Al Chianti” and I liked the reviews in which they didn’t disappoint. We ate too much for dinner, but couldn’t resist “all italiana” food. The fish soup is delicious, the “spaghetti al Nero di seppie” were “buonissimi”. We also had the grilled fish mix which definitely was too much for two persons at dinner, but the fish was very fresh, tasty and amazing aroma. The Tiramisu was also excellent. You can expect a small space, typical for the place, with also typical prices but worth the quality and the central location. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would recommend and come back in the future.

An absolutely disappointing experience. Nice location, but the tomatoes in the Caprese salad were watery and bland. The pasta was really poor, overcooked and the sauce was like Dolmio, not what I've experienced in many Italian cities before! And to top it off the seafood certainly wasn't fresh, most of the muscle shells were closed and the one I had that was open was off. It absolutely stunk and I had to spit it out. The waiter didn't seem to be too bothered when I told him. A disgrace to Italian cuisine I'm afraid to say and disappointing that the seafood wasn't fresh considering the restaurant is practically in the sea!
