Very pretty, should be free to enter as it's a church. However costs 3 euro which seems reasonable but then it's 5 euro for another section and 7 for the next. I really hate this way of monetizing of a church. Make it clear at the beginning and make a combo ticket. In the end I declined to do the bits that cost extra money as I just think it's money grabbing and that's the worst part of italian culture I've come across, when there are hidden costs. I also remember that Jesus got really angry at similar money practices in his day. To be clear I don't mind paying 3 euro, probably even 10 might be ok to go in a cool place and see art, but when things aren't up front thus is less cool. And I also think churches should be free to enter as they are in most places. I wouldn't have minded if the bit I had done was free then I pay something to go up stairs for example, but paying both... the whole thing doesn't seem very Christian in my...

Well what can I say, one of the most important, historic and fantastical locations on the planet. If you only live once, visit what can only be described as a living film set. You might not know it but this is the most recognisable place you have never been to! Do some research and you won't have to follow the crowd. And if you have a choice hot days are not recommended. There is too much to list so I would suggest you decide before you go and give yourself time. Food is expensive but it's worth pushing the gondola out, and speaking of spending money photos of gondolas might be better than photos from them. There is a lot to miss so it's worth putting in the hard work before you go and check to see if it's open. For best results 2 days is recommended. Have a...

St. Mark's Museum is an artistic treasure trove that transports visitors through time. Its awe-inspiring collection of religious artifacts, intricate mosaics, and historic relics offers a profound glimpse into the cultural heritage of the past. Navigating the hallowed halls feels like a journey into history itself. The museum's careful curation and detailed exhibits provide a deep understanding of the significance of each piece. While some displays could benefit from more informative descriptions, the overall experience is immersive and enlightening. The breathtaking beauty of the mosaics is truly a sight to behold, a testament to human craftsmanship. St. Mark's Museum is a must-see for anyone seeking to connect with the spiritual and artistic legacy of...

A wonderful place. The interior work is astounding with amazing detailed mosaics of gold tiles. Unfortunately there were other tourists there who were complaining about covering up. There was also a section where some nuns were practising their faith. The problem was that tourists were invading the area. There were also people wearing baseball caps inside. The place is amazing but the behaviour of tourists here was not good. Definitely worth the visit and the audio guide is great for 5 euro. It has approximately 4 stops and 10 minutes of audio leaving you plenty of time to explore. One thing we learned is that the damage on the pillars is caused by the flooding. Also have a good look at the floor - the detail is amazing! Highly recommend!

The Bronze Horses of Constantinople, once paraded on the basilica’s façade, are the stars of St. Mark’s Museum. Forged before Christ, they became spoils of war for Doge Enrico Dandolo in the Fourth Crusade, later seized by Napoleon, then restored to Venice. Photography was once forbidden; now their gilded forms and the surrounding Byzantine mosaics can finally be captured. Beyond the horses, the museum opens onto the basilica’s glittering interior, the narthex with its liminal symbolism, and the loggia with sweeping views across Piazza San Marco. From here, the lagoon shines with the silhouettes of the Winged Lion and Saint Theodore.
