Excellent small traditional Venetian bar. It is located next to Campo Santo Stefano. In a great location. The atmosphere in the bar is great, relaxing. There is a rich selection of sandwiches, croissants, traditional cicchetti. Serves rich meat sandwiches, but also vegan options meals are available. But in Venice, cicchetti are the most popular with local people. Cicchetti, also sometimes spelled "cichetti" or called "cicheti" in Venetian language, are small snacks or side dishes, typically served in traditional "bàcari" in Venice. They can be meat variations with prosciutto and ham or fish variations with cod, shrimp or salted anchovies. The service is excellent, fast and professional. We came for Aperol Spritz. In Venice, Spritz is drunk in many ways, and each is more than excellent. Aperol Spritz, also called just Spritz, is an Italian wine-based cocktail, commonly served as an aperitif in Northeast Italy. The Aperol Spritz became widely popular outside of Italy around 2018 and was ranked as the world’s 9th bestselling cocktail in 2019 by the Drinks International website. Spritz was born during the period of the Habsburg domination in Veneto in the 1800s, under the Kingdom of Lombardy – Venetia. The soldiers, but also the various merchants, diplomats and employees of the Habsburg Empire in Veneto became quickly accustomed to drinking local wine in the taverns, but they were not familiar with the wide variety of wines from the Veneto, and the alcohol content was higher than they were accustomed to.The newcomers started to ask the local hosts to spray a drop of water into the wine (spritzen, in German) to make the wines lighter, the real original spritz was composed of sparkling white wine or red wine diluted with fresh water. Many locals were grabbing breakfast here and we thought let's try it as in most places when we travel. People were taking their coffees at the bar and grabbing take away sandwiches. We were smiling "it must be good", my Husband said. We tried their tuna and egg sandwich, some cappuccinos and cornetto. They were delicious. We called my Sister and her Husband over to join us and they enjoyed their meal as well. The Staff were great. They answered our questions regarding the savory and sweet options on display.
