How do I even begin? The only good thing about this caffe is the food. But when it comes to customer service? Straight up terrible. I was on a family trip and we are native speakers of English. When it’s our turn to choose what we would like to have, my mother chose a few desserts. Then my father was standing just at another corner right beside the next customers, pointing at the bakery, asking the waitress what meat was in the bread. The waitress straight up ignored him, that’s when I step in asking her politely what meat it is, even saying ‘excuse me’ before asking my question. The waitress went berserk screaming at me to “wait wait wait wait” holding her palm in front of my face with a face that says “please calm down you’re being insane” like she was trying to control a psychopath. I was stunned to speak so I just stopped asking and stared at her, wondering what did she wanted to say that caused her to stopped me. And lastly, we clearly ask to dine-in, therefore when we received our pastries in paper bags, we found it weird. ‘Maybe they do not have plates’ we thought so we proceeded to place our food on a table ready to eat, suddenly a waitress came and told us that we’re not allowed to eat here as we asked for the food to be take-away, when we literally said dine-in! The funny part is they barely know how to speak English and they’re acting all arrogant. I’m not saying everyone should learn English even if it is an international language. But how about basic respect? Because in this caffe...
Read moreWhile visiting the ghetto we went to the Majer nearby. The staff was very first and they had very nice selection of pastries and desserts. The cannolo with ricotta, chocolate and orange peel is absolutely delicious. The coffee is great, runner up for the best coffee I've ever had in Italy. Would recommend.
The day after we encountered several other Majers and after the good experience we had before we decided to go in. They messed up my coffee, even when I explicitly told them I wanted a macchiato I just got a regular black coffee instead. It was good but not what I wanted. The staff was not very friendly but my partner's cappuccino was excellent.
All in all, even when experiences may vary depending on which one you visit, you can have great coffee and baked goods in here. If you want an excepcional service, coffee and pastries try visiting the one...
Read moreI love this place dearly. I've visited twice over two years. It's a gleaming, beautiful little shop with an extensive selection baked goods sweet and savory, along with delicious gelatos, coffee, and more. All of which is very good, some of it truly excellent. I don't know how they do it.
It's tucked away in one of the quiet parts of town not far from Cannaregio, and is one of the few nice places to go early in the morning there now that Torrefazione Cannaregio is closed permanently.
The staff is very sweet and it seemed to make them smile that I had some basic Italian language skills. There's plenty of space to sit....
