The Most Unforgettable Evening of Our Lives at Ba Ghetto!
On April 17th of this year, we celebrated my partner’s 50th birthday at Ba Ghetto, a charming restaurant in the heart of Venice, and words can hardly capture the sheer perfection of that night. It wasn’t just a celebration; it was a masterpiece orchestrated by the most incredible team, led by none other than Dimitri, the host of hosts.
From the moment we walked in, Dimitri greeted us with the kind of warmth and energy that instantly made us feel like royalty. He isn’t just a host—he’s a magician of hospitality, a maestro of celebration, and the kind of person who turns an ordinary evening into a once-in-a-lifetime event. Dimitri took care of every detail, always with a friendly smile and a charm that had everyone in awe. He went above and beyond to make sure the evening was not just enjoyable, but absolutely flawless.
The food? Beyond extraordinary. Every dish was an explosion of flavor, crafted with care and presented like a work of art. The seafood was impossibly fresh, the pasta was divine, and the wine pairings? Perfection. And then came the pièce de résistance: the birthday cake. I don’t know what kind of magic they bake into their cakes at Baguetto, but this was no ordinary dessert. It was rich, decadent, and so good that several of our guests went back for second (and even third!) helpings.
The ambiance of Ba Ghetto added to the magic of the night. The warm lighting, the elegant yet inviting décor, and the stunning views of Venice set the perfect backdrop for our celebration. Hosting 25 of our closest friends and family, we felt enveloped in joy, laughter, and love—thanks to the impeccable service and attention to detail of the entire staff.
If you’re ever in Venice and want an unforgettable dining experience, Ba Ghetto is the place. Whether it’s an intimate dinner or a grand celebration, this is the kind of place that doesn’t just meet expectations—it exceeds them in every way. And if you’re lucky enough to have Dimitri as your host, prepare for the best night of your life.
To Dimitri, the incredible chef, and the whole team at Ba Ghetto: thank you for making April 18th a day we’ll cherish forever. You didn’t just help us celebrate a birthday; you gave us memories that will last a lifetime.

Read moreArrived and were told we could have immediate seating. Asked if we could come back in 20 minutes when a member of our party arrived and were told by wait staff it was no issue. When we returned, the manager told us there was no way we could be seated because we had no reservation and it was very full. The waitress we spoke with originally intervened, but it left us feeling very uncomfortable. Note there were many open tables, and we never saw it get more than part full and saw many walk-ins seated.
They accommodated our son's food allergies well. Artichokes Jewish Style was very good. Lamb was just OK and much more fat than meat. Multiple menu items were not available.
Asked for an additional napkin and a soda that never came. Had assistance from 3 different waitresses, so we were never sure who could help us.
Tried for several minutes to get attention for items ordered but not received and for check. Went inside to pay. Disappointed at lack of attention by wait staff. A simple stop by to check would go a long way, especially when we saw some waitresses in protracted conversations while...
Read moreA gem in a delightful and quiet part of Venice. A bit pricey, but for good reason, the atmosphere is delightful, the staff positively pleasant and the menu ever so eclectic. I wanted to try more than I had appetite to try, and the waiter was a fantastic salesman. The artichoke was unlike anything I’ve ever had. It was crispy yet tender and delicious, almost like fresh kettle chips, and I ate every part of it, stem included. The hummus was the creamiest I’ve ever had with a wonderfully delicate flavor. Finally, the visciolata. A nice balance of sweet berry jam with some lemon tartness and a mildly sweet and firm pastry. I’m not often a fan of this type of pastry, but it’s very good. Not fry like many of this type. A final note… my wife and I loved the music they played during our visit. The whole restaurant is a great experience, and one far from the tourist traps. Very different, very good, a...
