We visited Ital Indian Restaurant in Venice on April 19th at 17:30, and it was hands down one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
I’ve traveled to over 30 countries and eaten at hundreds of Indian restaurants, but I’ve never encountered service this bad. The staff was rude, arrogant, and blatantly discriminatory.
As Indians, we were treated with visible disrespect, while Western tourists received warm, polite service. The difference in attitude was clear. Despite ordering a full main course and being respectful, the staff seemed irritated by us for no reason.
To make things worse, when we asked for dessert and tea at the end of the meal, the waiter refused. He told us they “prioritize people who order alcohol and main courses” because dessert and hot drinks are “low profit” and not worth their effort. I’ve never heard anything so unprofessional in any restaurant. That’s not just bad service — it’s offensive. We also noticed the same dismissive, rude behavior being shown towards other Indian guests around us. It wasn’t just us.
The food? Mediocre and forgettable. Certainly not worth the attitude.
They seriously need to learn from the Italian restaurants in the area, who actually understand what real hospitality is: treating every guest with respect and care — no matter where they’re from.
To my fellow Indians, Pakistanis, and Middle Eastern travelers — avoid this place. You...

As amazing as Italian food is, we were missing ethnic variety. Being a big fans of Indian food, I discovered this Indian restaurant, tucked away in the northern end of old Venice. It was a 30 minute trek from St. Marco's Square, but as we wanted to see the city (and get away from the insane crowds in the "popular" areas), we were willing put in the effort.
It turned out to be a beautiful walk, and took us to parts of the city that not everyone sees (just be mindful to plan your path well, as Google sometimes asks you to magically cross one of the many canals without aid of a bridge (presumably using a water taxi, but ... seriously). It''s best to use the Satellite view, so you can make sure that the canal crossings do in fact have a foot-bridge, if you plan on walking there.
Anyways, the food was incredible, and the staff was very friendly. Being of Indian ancestry, we're quite picky about our Indian food, and the food here didn't disappoint. It was excellent, and fresh. My wife loved the tandoori chicken, and I was a huge fan of the Daal Tarkah, Aloo Gobi, all of which was accompanied by well made Safron Rice and...
Read moreCame to Venice for 3nights and after eating mostly Italian food for days we wanted to go Indian. Was in touch with them thru google chats. Very fast response online if you have enquiries.
However when I called to order 2 dishes for take away. The person on the phone asks is that all any other food the briyani portion is a small bowl thats because your portion is made to be in a stingy manner. I ordered a lamb seekh kebab and a chicken briyani less spicy. Firstly absolutely appalled by the insane pricing of the kebab 21 Euro. Im from Singapore and a good portion costs abt 13-16$ max over there from a good restaurant.
The briyani is done in a short cut way. Please note its not dum briyani. Its simply briyani rice coloured with chunks of like chicken tikka inside. Ital India you have clearly taken advantage of people who really wanna eat home kinda food or something Asian for the westerners.
The food isnt worth the price or hype. Its absolutely overpriced and ive eaten much better and decently priced in Florence too. I asked for just onions and lime which is given on the side fr most restaurants. They told me salad is chargeable. But i just asked for few Slices of onions how crazy is that. First and last...
