Very disappointed. We had researched a place nearer to our hotel with great reviews but no real nice options to seafood and pasta. People queuing so very popular. However, my wife especially not wanting seafood and I wanted a different option to pasta and pizza we headed a hundred yards or so along the canal to Trattoria Alla Fontana which also had a good rating and had beef and Lamb on the menu. I must admit I pushed my wife into having a starter and she went for the Cheese and selection of meats. I went for the Prawn in leaks and ginger. Both dishes around 16 -17 Euro. My wife could hardly eat the cheeses , some of which were hard parmesan. The selection of meats looked and tasted the same and all salami. We can eat salami but these were very fatty. My prawn dish was served cold, the leaks maybe described as al dente by the Italians but these were practically raw. I never tasted the ginger coming through. Over all a very dry and disappointing meal. When the main dishes arrived they looked much more appetising. I had Lamb Shank with potatoes and veg. To be fair the Lamb was okay but with a lacklustre sauce. It came with a very bitter veg that looked like cabbage stalks. Apparently it is a bitter veg. We could not eat it. My wife went for the Sliced beef "drumilin gold" flavoured with rosemary. The meat looked great when it came out and I thought well that looks nice. I was disappointed to see my wife push the plate away after a couple of mouthfuls. She said try the beef it is horrible I can't eat it. I tried a piece and agreed that it had a strange texture and taste , quite tough. What a waste of around 26 -27 Euro. Overall the staff were very nice but not one asked if we were enjoying our meal or questioned why most of the food had been left of my wife's plates. Being Brits of course we never complain do we as not wanting to make a fuss. My daughter who lives in Italy said we should have asked for the meal to be taken away and say we would not pay for it. Suggest they brought something else. The bill in total for the two of us with a bottled beer and bottle of Red Wine was in excess of 130 odd Euro. We were offered a Grappa on the house but asked and got a Brandy instead. No...

MUST VISIT. The food was some of the best on our two week trip around Italy. The service was spot on - no rush but they'd come check in if you needed anything often. The atmosphere - who can say no to dining on one of the less busy canals. Beautiful breeze, shade and actually really peaceful!

We ordered an assortment of HEAVENLY dishes. We started with the prawns in leeks and ginger. This was INSANELY flavourful and we had never had this combination. It was cooked to perfection and we licked the plate clean hehe. For our entrees we had the seafood pasta WHICH I KICK MYSELF IN THE BOTTOM for not having taken a close up picture. I was so antsy to eat. This bowl had ENDLESS seafood. BEAUTIFUL flavour - not too fishy nor too salty. Just fresh pasta noodles and seafood. I will remember this pasta forever (it is the background dish of our Squid ink pasta. I think it is an acquired taste, HOWEVER; it was also lovely! This pasta also came with mussels and clams (I believe). We had the house white wine with all of this - just stunning - paired so well with all of the fish we were eating! Our last part of the meal was the fish - we originally didn't plan to get so much food but we couldn't say no. I can't even recall what this fish was but it was a white fish - ever so light and just refreshing cooked with tomato sauce and potatoes in the oven.

As I stated above, we had no idea what we were in for when we found this spot. We originally tried getting into a restaurant closer to where we were but figured instead of waiting we'd walk a bit. Walk those extra few minutes you WON'T be disappointed! The man that was serving us was also absolutely delightful. I have never met a happier man. Just all smiles and truly enjoying what he does. It made the meal that much better :) LASTLY - we found this place was VERY fairly priced. Better than a few of the spots we saw and the portions were GREAT. We ate like...

My wife and I tried this place after our first choice for the evening meal was closed. We were NOT disappointed at all. Because it was raining, we opted for a table inside. They do not have a lot of tables but it has its cozy charm! The staff was wonderful and very welcoming. Michael seated us immediately and we were able to order in shortly.

We ordered the Tuna Tartare appetizer, and my wife got the Tagliatelle with Porchini Mushrooms and Cheese, and I opted for the Pasta of the Day - Tagliatelle with Sea Bass and Pistachios.

We are fortunate enough to have regular access to fresh fish, so the Tuna Tartare didn’t shine as brightly the pasta dishes.

Now if you are looking for amazing pasta and seafood you have come to the right place. The ingredients were simple yet complementary. The texture of the pasta was fresh and prepared perfectly.

My wife’s mushrooms were tender and the cheese melded well with the pasta water creating a lovely creamy sauce.

My pasta had a light fish flavor and was cooked perfectly as a delicate white fish. I didn’t expect to love pistachios and sea bass but this is one to try if you can!

We also ordered the tiramisu which finished our meal for the evening. It was incredibly light without being too sweet!

Overall, Michael and the rest of the staff do a remarkable job. If you’re looking for a wonderful evening meal and experience, please do give...
