TRATTORIA AL POGGIO — Restaurant in Venice

This restaurant is a tourist trap. Food was terrible and made my husband’s stomach very upset afterwards! Unfortunately I did not take any pictures since the presentation was not great and I was not going to write a review. However, lasagna’s consistency was very smoochy, it had no meat in it, instead it had weird watery pink sauce that almost tasted like it was frozen. Breaded chicken was tasteless and dry. Blank ink spaghetti was okay but I am not sure about freshness of their seafood.

An employee approached us in the street. Once inside we had to wait 10 minutes to be seen by a server after we sat down. By the way, they played American sex themed songs on the background the whole time we were there.

I was incredibly disappointed with my dining experience here. When our group of five sat down, we were greeted with a free spritz, which was a kind gesture. After ordering our food and not ordering drinks, the waiter seemed to be displeased with us. I ordered the mixed fried fish and fried potatoes. The fish was 15.50 euros and the potatoes were 4.50 euros. I was incredibly disappointed with the quality of the fish and the fried potatoes were just plain french fries and were extremely overpriced for the amount offered. The rest of my group got less expensive, simple pasta and pizza and were disappointed as well. We have spent over a week in Italy and this was our worst meal so far. To top it all off, the cover charge was $1.50 per person and then the 12% addition (I guess as a tip) was added after the cover charge was added to our bill. I would not recommend...

We come from Asia for honeymoon trip. Yesterday we ordered a set and ask waiter recommend a pasta with meat because the set contains mainly seafood without meat. Then the waiter kept recommend a pasta with mixed seafood and point to Italian menu, even though we told him we spoke English. We just not thought that much and accept his suggest. Finally we got a bill with a 70 euro item. At first we thought its from the set calculation in a different way. But we cannot figure out where it came from, until we read some previous costumers' comment. The pasta they recommend is calculated by weight and would explode your bill. Its also our fault too we didn't check menu thoroughly enough and too innocent for believing restaurant's words. It was very disappointing for us for the rest of the day and gave us a big lesson.
