The items were overpriced. The service was disappointing when you can really sense the discrimination by the waiters, the rude attitude to explain the so-called restaurant rules was infuriating, especially when we had followed their command to retrieve our own bottle of water. The woman who seems to be the bar tender, even tried to block the way when we were leaving to urge us to change our comments. This action of falcifying reviews is extremely unacceptable. There was force selling and we got our food ordered wrongly twice. However, the male waiter tried to sort out the problem, which is a good thing. The overall presentation of this restaurant was way below bar and the response from this restaurant is totally unacceptable. I seldom make reviews on Google, but the experience we had was not satisfactory at all. The above are merely facts by the customer. If the restaurant is so sensitive of negative reviews and blaming customers instead of reflecting themselves, as I had read through comments from other customers as well, I see no reason for visiting...

A truly disappointing experience at Ristorante al Mercante. The service was abysmal — empty bottles sat on our table until we had to ask for them to be cleared, and despite having far too many staff just standing around doing nothing, no one seemed capable of offering even basic attention.

The bruschetta was bland and absolutely not worth €12, and the steak was a disaster — ordered medium rare, but it came out blue and practically raw. Glasses were never topped up, and the staff looked like they’d rather be anywhere else; not a single smile or sign of care the entire evening.

Yes, the drinks were fine, but that’s nowhere near enough to make up for the lazy service, poor food, and mismatched atmosphere — acoustic pop music in Italy? Really? Something local and authentic would have been far more fitting.

Save your money and go elsewhere — this place is not worth the hype...
