We were staying in the neighborhood and walked by this wine bar multiple times a day. Being from our location in Canada, it’s hard to get your hands on some great Italian wine.

We walked in and wanted to purchase some wine for home. I didn’t really know what to pick so we were told we should do some wine tastings. This worked out perfectly as we had a free afternoon!

We ended up doing the Amarone wine tasting (5 different types) and 3 extra tastings. We have never had amarone wine before but fell in love with it.

As it was our anniversary/belated honeymoon, we decided on buying a few bottles and sending them home. Not just for the taste but how we were treated in there. Everyone was friendly and the sommelier was fantastic. We caught his name briefly at the start but he also made the tasting great.

Make no mistake that these Amarone wines are on the pricey side but we are treating them as our anniversary gift to open each year. Best part (or maybe worst for us) is we can buy all this wine online now direct from the spice!

If you’re in Venice, I highly recommend going in and doing a wine tasting, specifically the Amarone. We also ended up doing the bruschetta too and it was absolutely...

The Good: a bit cheaper than other places close to San Marco Wine selection is pretty good

The Bad: I asked if the dish I was ordering was coming with a white sauce. The waiter confirmed it's with white sauce - it turned out it was a red sauce. We ordered bufala mozzarella and he brought regular mozzarella.

The Ugly: The waiter (who surprisingly I think is the owner as well), was not nice at all. Being grumpy and answering as if he was making us a favour is not the way to treat customers. One of the waiters (not the one who was serving us) just grabbed a salad and sat at the table next to us to eat it in a rush. Normally I would understand this and would not think much about it, but I was already pissed off from the other waiter and got bothered that they didn't ask at least if we are bothered, etc.

I could see that with some of the people the waiter/owner was acting more friendly, maybe he just didn't like us. :) I would not write this review if it wasn't for his attitude.

Overall, I was expecting much based on the reviews, but had a...

TL;DR Pay them a visit, thank me later!

There are less than a handful of restaurants I've been in Europe with this experience and level of taste. Yes, it was on the expensive side for the wine tasting, but we tasted wines from 2011, 2013... All the way to 2018. There's enough to make you want to skip a gondola ride for this 😉

Service: timely and attentive, not crowding but also chatty

Wine: The Amarone selection for wine tasting was amazing. My wife and I compared it with the red wine selection from 5 regions of Italy, you can clearly understand why their selection is superior.

Starters: 5 cheese platter with stunning chestnut honey that makes your eyes pop every time you dip that blue or goat cheese in it.

Main course: Pasta with cheese and black pepper, ravioli with ricotta and tomato sauce, both on point!

Desert: home made Panna cotta - a bit too sweet for my wife, but I personally enjoyed the quality of...

Def try a flight here! They will let you split it amongst 2 people and it is plenty of wine to taste. We enjoyed the wine but where this place really shines is when the owner steps in to chat and provides recommendations and talks about history of Venetian wine! They also had so many Cicchetti's but we had a food tour planned after so we stopped ourselves from eating there but based on other reviews and how the food looked, i am sure it would've been delicious. They are working to open another wine tasting venue next door so it should be able to accommodate more people soon. They had many different flights to choose from and tons of glasses you could get after as well. They were very great with suggestions and prices were very reasonable for the amount of wine. It was all topped off with an ice cream lemon cello type dessert shot, which was a great refreshing way to send us off!

Worth the money! It is a little bit pricer but I thought it was totally worth it. It is away from all of the crowds in Venice, making it a nice little escape. My husband I both did the regional tasting which consisted of 5 red wines, all were delicious. It was nice to try the more localized wines and would recommend doing so while in the area. We started with the fish carpaccio which was amazing!! Definitely have this or another seafood starter. It was very fresh. We had a side salad and the cuttlefish pasta (squid ink) for our main course. I was shocked with how much I loved the pasta. It was so good. They also served bread right out of the oven. For dessert we had the tiramisu. It was so light and yummy! After, they treated us with a sorbet dessert drink that had lemon and Prosecco in it. Would highly recommend going. Would go back in a heartbeat!
