First of all I am flabbergasted by the fact that this place has 4.6 stars!! It definitely doesn’t deserve this high of a rating. I think the interior design is being rated more than the food.
This was actually the worst ramen I’ve had in the past 10 years. When trying a new ramen place, I usually start with their best seller, but I went with the Spicy Ramen as I was in the mood for spice and there wasn’t an option for adding spice on the menu. The only element of the dish that had a semblance of flavor was the charsu, and even that wasn’t cooked properly. The fat was tough, not rendered and inedible. The broth had a tiny note of soy sauce, but had no real flavor except oil. It was said to be a pork, chicken and soy broth, but it was as if the broth was made in minutes rather than hours. There was no deep flavor of anything. The noodles were a bit overcooked. There was no firmness, and coupled with a tasteless broth just made them equally tasteless. To top this all off, there was absolutely no spice to my Spicy Ramen. There was more of a kick from my ginger lemon kombucha than my ramen, which was a let down. The onogiri were fine. Nothing special. I’d eat them again, but not the ramen.
The service was APPALLING. Our party should have left, but stayed as 1 person was set on Ramen for dinner. We were a group of 7. First, they said they couldn’t seat us until the last person arrived. Then, they sat 6 of us at a table for 8 (I presume because we were blocking their entrance waiting for 1 person). They then proceeded to seat 2 parties of 2 at our table despite knowing we had another person in our party arriving, and there were plenty of seats to accommodate these parties around the restaurant. Their reasoning was because “they seat people in order to make it easier for them. Their policy is for their convenience rather than the customers.” This is not how hospitality works. They are in the wrong business.
TLDR; The ramen was not nice. You get more flavor from a packet noodle made at home. The service was awful. We...
Read moreA piece of Japan in the heart of Verona. This cozy and friendly Ramen Bar has all it takes to let every customer that comes in feel and taste one of the most typical Japanese traditions. The first time my girlfriend and I tried their Tokyo Ramen (best seller) we were stunned: the quality of the ingredients of every Ramen Bowl is top notch. Overall the staff suggestions are on point and it really appears that it has been done a lot of studies behind all of this project. Some of the items are made in house, which is great. The dining set-up is something I really like and enjoy (no reservations, no individual tables). They even offer a variety of seasonal/season inspired dishes. We are regulars at Yume and we enjoy it a lot every time we are in Verona together. You can become a member of their loyalty program, Yumers Club, where you can get free noodles refill for your Ramen (Kaedama) and even get a priority access to their...
Read moreMy love for ramen happened in Osaka many years ago and I didn't think that it can happen again and in Italy. But Verona had a surprise. This Ramen cafe hidden in a small alley gave us an unforgettable experience. Absolutely top quality classic ramen and zen minimalistic interior with philosophical question to yourself: What's your dream? There is a piece of paper and a pencil on the table in front of you and you are asked to go through 3 steps. Admit your love to yourself and listen to yourself. Using positive verbs, formulate what is really important to you! Write your dream with the beginning phrase: I want .... Take the first step towards making your dream come true. And after it, hang this piece of paper on the magic wall. The staff says that it works and dreams come true. Of course, this is just a creative marketing ploy, but who knows, maybe this wall is...
