I recently visited a Hoto noodle restaurant near Mt. Fuji and it turned out to be the best meal of my entire trip! Even though I arrived at 1:30 pm and was told there was a long waiting list, I was lucky enough to get a spot at 2:03 pm and immediately ordered the Soba & tempura set menu instead of the Hoto noodle. The horse sashimi was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with perfectly paired onion and garlic on the side. The addition of egg yolk to the soy sauce added an extra layer of flavor that made dipping the horse sashimi a truly delightful experience. The tempura was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and soft interior. I particularly enjoyed the beefsteak leaf tempura, which had a refreshing minty aroma and taste. Finally, the soba was also very satisfying, with the dipping sauce adding an extra layer of flavor to the noodles. I was so glad that I decided to switch to the Soba & tempura set menu as it was truly an amazing experience.

If you are visiting Kawaguchiko eat here!!!!! Food was absolutely delicious especially after a long day of exploring, and the portions were large. The staff workers are so incredibly welcoming and friendly, I felt very comfortable dining here. And they made sure to speak very clearly and with gestures to accommodate me due to my limited, awkward Japanese (I wanted to practice)! Be warned that this is a smaller and pretty popular resturant, so arriving 20-30 minutes early could save you alot of time waiting. I came 15 minutes early, but still had to wait almost 2 hours because I was 2-3 parties short of the first seating. But the wait was absolutely worth it and I would do it again if it meant eating hot Hotou and Tenpura here again :)^ Please give this place a try, you won't regret it!!

Exactly what was needed on a cold day in Kawaguchiko! The restaurant is super busy but we got there a bit earlier than the dinner crowd by chance and only waited about 15 minutes before we were served. We ordered the hoto noodles and karaage octopus and both were super delicious and flavourful! Portion sizes for the hoto noodles were massive so you could likely forego a side. The restaurant’s atmosphere was inviting and most importantly you can truly experience Japanese hospitality at this restaurant. By the time we had finished dinner, there was no more public transport (about 7pm) and our hotel was about a 50 min walk in pitch black and 1 degree weather. We communicated this with the chef and he immediately helped us book a taxi home. We could not be more grateful to him.

It was another beautiful autumn 🍂 with beautiful sight of momiji 🍁. After a great morning walk, it’s time to catch our lunch with my wife and my 3years old son. The famous restaurant like the kosaku or others are packed with customersand que are tremendously long. It is impossible to wait for hours for a lunch. Eventually, with God’s grace we found this restaurant and with 10mins wait, we were in our seat and ordered the tempura and houtou noodles set. It was the best houtou we have tried. The soup was rich, the vegetables 🥕 🥔 pumpkin 🎃 mushroom 🍄 was so fresh and most importantly is the houtou noodle (flat and wide) taste so good. The taste and ambient are worth all pennies. It was another great experience for all of us in this autumn.

I went here because it was close to the place I was staying at. I went there around noon and there was about 30 minute wait. It’s a very popular place. I never tried Hoto noodles before and was starving so I couldn’t wait to try it. I ordered the combo Hoto noodles with a small order of tempura with rice. Everything was delicious and the food came out fast and hot. I was thoroughly impressed by the portion and the quality. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent food and service. I came here again on my last day to try mushroom Hoto. I couldn’t believe how much mushrooms they put in here. There must have been at least 20 different kinds of mushrooms. It was so good and filling. I highly recommend this place.

It’s extremely average. I really would not go out of my way to go here. The food is not any different from your average noodle shop. We felt like the food was very plain. The soba texture was not very good. The hoto noodle broth was not creamy.. just tasted like regular miso soup. The horse sashimi was good. Tempura was not perfectly fried and battered, it seemed to be made in a hurry. We arrived at 6:50 and waited for about ~35 mins. They stopped taking guests at 7:05pm. Witnessed many people trying to put their name on the list but it was closed. The price definitely does not match the quality or taste. I would recommend going elsewhere, many many other good restaurants in this area.
