While driving around the Kawaguchiko area, we made a quick stop at the Lawson convenience store near Kawaguchiko Station, and it turned out to be one of the most scenic convenience store visits weâve ever experienced. Nestled in the shadow of Mount Fuji, this Lawson offers an incredible view of the iconic mountain, making even a simple coffee run feel special. Whether youâre grabbing snacks, drinks, or just stretching your legs, the backdrop of Fujisan transforms an ordinary errand into a memorable experience.
Our children were equally thrilled, as they enjoyed a little break while marveling at the view of Mount Fuji right from the parking lot. Itâs amazing how something as routine as stopping at a Lawson could turn into a perfect photo opportunity, with the mountain framed beautifully in the background.
The Kawaguchiko area is known for its breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, and this Lawson is no exception. Located conveniently for those exploring the Fuji Five Lakes region, itâs the perfect pit stop to recharge while soaking in some stunning scenery. As the sun began to set, the warm glow on Mount Fuji made the entire area feel even more magical.
If youâre road-tripping around the area, be sure to stop by this Lawson for more than just snacks. The convenience, combined with the unforgettable view of Mount Fuji, makes it a must-visit spot when exploring Kawaguchiko. Itâs a great way to blend a bit of daily life with Japanâs incredible...
Read moreI echo what other reviewers mentioned about the staff at Lawson. Their attitude and service are terrible. It was my first time buying oden and so I was confused about the process. She said in thick accent "small cuppe or big cuppe" and at first I couldn't understand her and thought she was speaking japanese to me. She then proceeded to "huh?", let out an exasperated laugh and repeated herself. I could understand her the second time and replied her immediately. After which, she turned to her colleague and laughed mockingly about how I couldn't understand her (they were speaking in japanese but I could get the main gist of it as she talked about our conversation). Of course, this ruined my excitement of trying new food in Japan. I looked through the reviews and it seems like many other tourists faced similar experiences with the staff here. While standing and eating my food, I kept hearing the staff complaining to one another about the tourists like how they didn't separate the trash properly or follow instructions.
I have never given a one-star before so that should give you an idea of what it is like. Take pics outside the store if you would like, but visit other convenience stores in the vicinity instead. Don't subject yourself to any opportunity that may ruin your day when travelling. 7/11 which is a minute walk away is...

Tourists often congregate here to take the perfect photo of themselves with Mount Fuji towering majestically in the background.
Just a short walk from Fuji Kawaguchiko station, this store is strategically located near Lake Kawaguchi and the Fuji mountain background.
ăTaking the pictures from across the road and store was previously closed, but has since reopened with enhanced security measures, making it a safe spot for visitors to enjoy and capture memorable photos. Be careful not to cross a busy road just to take a good photo.ă
A variety of items, such as fresh lunch boxes, snacks, beverages, and local specialties, are available at the store. The store is well-organized and clean. However, cleaning the outer side of the shop is necessary to avoid finding rubbish, cigarettes, paper, and plastic.
Option/Recommendation:
A second Lawson store (1395-1 Funatsu, Fujikawaguchiko, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi 401-0301) that is situated near the town hall is now becoming a new photo hotspot. The second location's more spacious accommodations are attracting tourists who prefer a less crowded environment while still enjoying views of Mount Fuji. *It should be noted that the restroom facility in this store is...
